I truly wish I had never used this company. René came out to give us an estimate and pressured us by saying that if we didn’t move forward the very next day in order to complete the 3–4 day project, he would be unavailable for six weeks. Based on that urgency and his reassurance, we trusted him to work on our brick flooring and three brick fireplaces. The written estimate clearly stated the scope of work was to strip, seal (with sand), and finish the brick. There was no discussion or authorization to stain the brick. Day one went okay—he stripped the floors, though he was extremely messy and damaged the texture and paint on our walls. The next day, our contractor let him in early, and when we arrived less than two hours later, we were shocked to find that René had stained our brick floors without permission—an orange shade in the living room and firehouse red in the game room. I immediately stopped him from continuing, but the damage had already been done to two of the three rooms we hired him for and one of the three fireplaces. He attempted to correct the color the following day after seeing how upset I was, but the damage was irreversible. Despite repeatedly stating he would not apply the finish until I was satisfied, he did so anyway without our approval while I briefly stepped away. To make matters worse, the finish was applied inconsistently, leaving some areas with a visible sheen and other areas matte where finish was never applied. René also left sealer puddling on the fireplaces, creating a wax-like finish in multiple spots. He used very low-grit sandpaper on the fireplace brick, which visibly damaged the surface. In addition, despite being clearly shown the location of our septic system and asked to be mindful of it, he drove over it with his vehicle. He also splattered stain and finish throughout our hallway, including the walls and floors, which was his primary path through the home. He left trash and debris behind and later presented an invoice that was higher than the original estimate due to the stain he applied without authorization. The majority of our original brick floors and fireplaces are permanently altered and will never be what we wanted. Please save yourself the stress, expense, and regret. I would not recommend this company.
