Two months ago, Meekhof Tire inspected my car and told me my front struts were bad. About a month later, I returned and paid to have both front struts replaced. Soon after the repair, I started hearing a clunking noise from the passenger side. I took my car to another automotive shop for separate work, and they inspected my vehicle as well. They showed me pictures indicating the passenger front strut was not seated correctly. Since the struts were under warranty, I returned to Meekhof and shared the photos. They agreed to replace the passenger strut. I scheduled the warranty repair for Friday, November 14, and dropped the car off at 8:00 a.m. After waiting for three hours, I was told the mechanic had damaged the replacement strut and they needed to get another one. Later that afternoon, they told me the car was ready. The day before this appointment, I drove my car from Grandville to Muskegon with no problems—it drove normally, with no shaking or axle issues. However, when I picked up the car after the warranty repair, it became clear something was wrong immediately. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot, the passenger side began making loud noises and the entire car started shaking. I turned right back around because the vehicle was no longer safe to drive. Before this visit, the car did not shake or have any drivability issues. Meekhof kept the car over the weekend. On Monday, they told me there was now a problem with my CV axle. This was never an issue before. My car had been fully inspected at The Garage on Henry, and they told me it was structurally sound with no axle concerns. The axle problem appeared only after Meekhof attempted the warranty repair. At this point, my car was undrivable, and I had to call AAA to tow it to another repair shop. What began as a warranty correction for a strut has now resulted in additional problems, extra expenses, and a car in worse condition than when I arrived.
If it were possible to leave a less than one star review, I would. I went here thinking that it was still the same as the old Meekoff. I could not have been farther from the truth. They had my truck for two solid days, but never started the work until halfway through the first day! They left it sitting with nothing being done, and as a result it sat there the entire weekend because they never got the work done by the end of Friday like they promised. Then, I had to take it back because they screwed up the rear brake job. I found out later that they never could’ve completed the front end alignment that they said they did because the ball joints were shot. When I brought that to their attention later, they used the excuse that they told me the ball joint were “dry, but otherwise solid.” I was extremely lucky, and took it to another place where I found out that the ball joints were just about ready to fall out. This was less than two months later. Avoid this place like the plague!
I spent over $1,800 on a set of tires here. I've been by three times to get a rotation but they only do walk-ins and are always an hour to an hour and a half out for a walk-in. You would imagine spending that much money with a company, You could get an appointment for something that relates to maintenance on that product you bought, but apparently not. Not the first time I've had terrible service here though, pretty bad when they can't even do an alignment and line up the steering wheel correctly. This place has gone downhill entirely Follow up: got an actual appointment at Firestone off of Sherman. Only Charged $25 to rotate, I'll never come back for your business again
