Well, I was hoping I could just leave it at 1 star, but Mike wants to question the rating, so whether he agrees or not, this is my story: I brought in a 2012 Audi A6 with an oil leak. Mike presented me with a fix of over $2,400 for the valve cover and gasket despite the fact that the gaskets had been replaced 2 years prior. Mike said the valve cover can warp in the heat for the reason this was needed. I mentioned the camshaft sensor on the passenger side was leaking (because we could see that) and only then was thrown into the estimate , albeit for an exorbitant price. It was literally a $50 part and took me 5 minutes and guess what? No leak. I also find it questionable that the inspection found a leaking oil drain plug (simple fix), but they wanted to replace the entire oil pain!! Seems excessive to me. In addition to the inflated price quote for the valve cover and gasket, he quoted me air hoses and other parts that were likely cracked. They weren't. No one checked to see if it actually needed to be replaced, they just assumed it did to bump up the labor and parts cost. I only know because I made repairs myself and have the non-warped valve cover and normal gasket. Overall, the total on my car for the all the repairs was over $9,000...I have the printed estimates. Yes, it was my option to have what I wanted done to be done, but that FAR exceeded the cost of the car. This estimate included a $500+ battery change, and brake pads and rotors. On the brake pads, Mike said that my son could be driving and it just wouldn't stop. I took it back to Tulsa, got the repair done and the car stopped just fine. People can have their own experience with Alpine, but mine was negative and the facts are the facts. Trying to scare people into making repairs is not the way I hope a mechanic does business and that is the impression I was left with. Mike speaks confidently and probably has a good relationship with others, but he really missed the mark with me.
