A-1 Auto Service performed excellent workmanship & customer service for my coolant system maintenance work.
Project Manager Chris was very friendly & articulate on explaining the required scope of work and anticipated completion time. During car pickup, Chris answered all of my questions & provided clear descriptions & pointed out under the hood items that were replaced.
Technician Timo who serviced my car was also very personable & provided superb technical workmanship.
I was also very pleased with the 10% discount on materials/labor provided to Government Military Retiree and/or Senior Citizen Discount!

I brought in two vehicles right before the holidays. Timo and the team tackled the much needed repairs right away and even got them both done before Christmas. They were extremely thorough in listening to my concerns and diagnosing the problems.
I have been going to A1 since moving to Honolulu and they have always been transparent, honest, and timely. They're my mechanic of choice for as long as I live here.
I had a below average experience at A-1. Most importantly, please understand that they offer 10% off to their customers if you leave a 5 star google review, hence the strong rating-- its deceiving. I brought my car there to address a check engine light for which i had run an at home diagnostic and knew what the error code/issue was. The first time i brought it there I called them at the end of the day and they said my car was all set and ready for pick up. On my way there, i got a 2nd call saying they messed up, they actually didnt get a chance to look at the car because they got busy during the day. OK fine-- not the end of the world. I tried again the following week- i was first told the indicator lights were due to a bad battery and needed to be replaced ($300 + labor), plus they needed to run their own diagnostic ($220). Expensive but fine, as long as it resolved the issue. Later that night the check engine light came back on. I took it back there the following day-- after sitting in the waiting area for 45 minutes the mechanic came upstairs to tell me the indicator light was indeed caused by the issue i knew it was all along and they recommended not bothering to pay to get it fixed since it didn't impact drivability or safety. I then proceeded to wait 30 more minutes to get the printout of the diagnostic test (pretty sure they forgot about me). In the end, I spent $700 and plenty of my time for a new battery and no resolution to my check engine light. Really nice down to earth guys, but the google rating here is wildly inflated.
We've taken our vehicles to Bubba and his team since we arrived on island 2 years ago. We've had an excellent and efficient experience every time.
Last week we had an urgent vehicle issue. I drove straight to their shop as my truck was starting to overheat again. Not only were they able to diagnose the issue on the same day, but they were able to send me an estimate for work approval. This was all on a Friday. They called Monday morning to tell me that my radiator had been replaced and my vehicle was ready for pickup!
Of note, they recently updated their communication systems and it helps the process run so smoothly. I can approve work via text or email, book appointments online, and even communicate via text when needed. Bravo, Bubba and team! Mahalo for taking such great care of my family's vehicles.
