Palen Music Center

Visited this store today while on a trip to KC. Wanted to try something new in the way of a music store. Lots of guitars, a few effects pedals and accessories, some band instruments, several guitar amps, little in the way of bass amps and even less in the way of bass guitars. There were three. Three bass guitars. Fifty or more electric guitars and an equal amount of acoustic guitars with a wide variety of each. But as a bassist, I was incredibly disappointed with the absence of bass guitars in this store. I went out of my way to get there for nothing. Add to that there was one employee present who was occupied with another customer, and the atmosphere in the space was sterile and generic, as though no thought was given and no effort made to provide the essence of musical culture.

I had an amazing experience at Palen Music. Jeff was awesome — he went above and beyond to help me with my purchase. The first guitar I bought ended up having a small issue, and Jeff brought in another one, set it up, restrung it, and had me ready to go in no time. Super friendly, fast, and professional — you can tell he really cares about his customers and knows his stuff. Couldn’t be happier with the service and how the guitar plays now. Highly recommend asking for Jeff if you go in!
