Found this store while visiting the area, came in looking with a friend. We were hovered over, and very unwelcome feeling from the employee following me. Both of us were actually thinking of buying something each to take home, but the treatment of the employee made me say nope, im out of here. Were not even in the store for less than 5 min before feeling disrespected.
We came into the store today to look for a guitar for our daughter. After trying several guitars she found the one she wanted and was very excited about it. After the cashier rang it up, I noticed that the price he charged me did not match the price on the tag that was placed under the strings on the neck of the guitar. I questioned him and he and another sales associate apologized and said that they had recently been having issues with an employee mismarking items in the store. Neither associate asked me if I still wanted it. I then asked about the bag that was supposed to be included in my purchase (which was also listed on the price tag as a perk of the purchase) They explained that the tag was not supposed to be on the guitar I purchased. So not only did I have to pay more than expected for the guitar, I also was now walking out without the bag that was promised. Needless to say, we will not be returning. We are a music family and we make many purchases throughout the year. We were hoping to be able stay local for our music needs but it looks like we will have to make the trek in to Spokane.
Slightly aesthetic, needs new carpets. The owner puts a time limit on how long you can play which is so not cool. She also puts a limit on how loud you are allowed to play, it is a music shop after all. 2 stars.
I came to Coeur De Alene today as a point alone the way on a trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. I'm in a tiny sports car with my wife, and I want 6 able to bring my guitar.
Needless to say, I haven't been able to play for almost 2 weeks, so looked up guitar stores in the area, and was delighted to find NW, at least until I walked in and asked to play a Taylor guitar. The man at the counter seemed put out that I would ask to okay 5 the higher end guitars, and when he finally led me upstairs, he said, "Keep it to 5 minutes per guitar, because they are expensive". No kidding, it's a Taylor. My Yamaha was expensive. Then he stood there awkwardly, like he was babysitting me.
I asked him if he could give me a minute, and he reluctantly stepped out of the room. I've never felt like I was on a timer, or like I was being watched or hurried in any music store.
After 4 minutes he came back in with another man, presumably the owner, and again sat down awkwardly to babysit me. The man was whispering in his ear, and I asked him why he felt the need to babysit a customer, and he said he's just doing what the owner told him to.
No problem. I immediately left. I get that you're inventory is expensive, but it's not so precious that you treat your customers that way. Absolutely rude and unacceptable! I wouldn't buy so much as a pick from NW, and would recommend you shop Sweetwater or Guitar Center.
