We got home late one night from a trip and did not have electricity. We called the power company and found out that while we were gone, a neighbor was trimming a tree and knocked our power line down including bending the electrical mast on our roof. The next morning we called Munson and explained the situation. Josh said he would send someone out right away to replace the mast. After the repairs were done Josh also contacted the power company to come out and hook up our power again. The guys that came out to do the repairs were very friendly. We really appreciate the quick response and very helpful and friendly service.
Called for help on a kitchen GFCI circuit malfunction. Got to Josh in order to schedule a visit. Upon describing the problem, Josh explained to me the connection requirements for a new outlet in that circuit that I was installing and his guidance "fixed" the problem. Thank you very much! :-))
Cannot thank munson electric enough. I own a small business in Cedar Rapids. I had an emergency and needed help right away, the friendly gentlemen was at my store in 15 minutes and solved my issue quickly so we could re open for the day. Thank you!!!
The service was great, but the billing follow-up was unprofessional. I recently bought my first home and had a Tesla charger installed in March 2024. I updated my phone number with the rep, which caused a minor delay, but the work was completed. However, I didn't receive a bill or any communication for over a month! I even left a voicemail, but got no response.
On the morning of my birthday, July 12th, a guy named John showed up at my home at 8:44 AM, banging on the door and asking for me. I was in the shower, so my fiancé informed him. In an aggressive tone, he demanded payment for an electric charger installed in March and threatened a lien on our home, claiming they tried to reach me at an outdated phone number. I shouted that we had been waiting for a bill, but none had arrived. He then went to his car to get a bill and approached us, asking if we would pay it and implying we should know how to pay online. I was shocked by his threats and the fact that he hadn't given us a bill before.
We planned to pay the $400 bill like we always do, but I wanted to discuss the situation first. After trying to reach Eric Munson multiple times, I was referred to the company that recently acquired them. They stated that visiting customers' homes for debt collection is unacceptable, especially since I had never received a bill. The representative assured me that Eric would contact me later that day, and he did.
Eric apologized and tried to connect with our experience, yet he validated the representative's aggressive approach to collecting a bill. When I said I prefer working with small businesses, he stated, "We're no longer a small business but a $1B company," as if revenue determines my preference, reinforcing my concerns about aggressive representatives like the "General Manager" visiting homes with overdue accounts.
While I appreciated the service at my home, I would never hire them for future projects.
Additionally, they filed a lien on my home on 7/19 despite my prompt offer to pay after discussing my frustrations with John's manager. This seems incredibly unprofessional, desperate, and tacky ah for a billion-dollar company.
We hired Munson to come repair some storm damage to our electrical mast. The photos posted were the result of the repair, and then the fix to the repair. There is tar everywhere, and it isn't seal correctly. I could have done a neater job! As well as the couple of hours without power turned into six hours so the guy could come back and make it worse. Would you want this mess on your home? They offered to send someone to fix it, but no one should have to have work repaired for a third time. I was literally in tears over how they treated my home. I will never use them, or recommend them to anyone.
