Here is a question that makes most business owners in Denton a little uncomfortable. When was the last time you actually tested your data backups? Not just checked that the backup software says it ran. Actually restored a file, a folder, or a full system image to confirm everything works. Most businesses assume their backups are fine because the status light is green. But backup failures are silent. Files can be corrupted, retention policies can expire, and storage can fill up without anyone noticing until the day you actually need to recover something. A backup that has never been tested is not really a backup. It is a hope. The good new...

Denton sits in the heart of North Texas, which means spring brings thunderstorms, occasional hail, and the kind of power fluctuations that make surge protectors earn their keep. For any business relying on local servers, a single power event can corrupt data or take systems offline for hours. And if you do not have a tested disaster recovery plan, hours can turn into days. A real disaster recovery plan goes beyond just having backups. It defines exactly how your business gets back online after a failure. That includes knowing which systems get restored first, how long each recovery takes, and who is responsible for each step. The best plan...

If you have driven down Fry Street or past the Industrial Street corridor recently, you have probably noticed more food trucks than ever. The Denton food scene keeps expanding, and the truck community is a big part of that growth. From tacos and barbecue to Thai food and craft coffee, the variety is impressive for a city this size. And the lines on a Friday afternoon tell you everything you need to know about how much the community supports them. Running a food truck is a business like any other, and technology plays a bigger role than most people expect. Mobile payment systems, online ordering platforms, inventory management, and even basi...

Picture this. One of your employees clicks something they should not have, and suddenly their screen looks wrong. Pop-ups are appearing, files are not opening, and the computer is running slower than usual. What does your team do next? In most Denton businesses, the honest answer is that they are not sure. They might try to restart the computer. They might unplug it. They might just keep working and hope it goes away. All of those responses can make the situation worse. The single most important thing to do when a computer might be infected is to disconnect it from the network immediately. Pull the ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi. This pr...

Most businesses in Denton have Wi-Fi. And most of those businesses set it up once and never thought about it again. The same password that was configured three years ago is still written on a whiteboard in the break room. If that sounds familiar, your network is more exposed than you think. An unsecured or poorly configured business Wi-Fi network is one of the easiest entry points for anyone looking to access your systems. If a visitor, a former employee, or someone sitting in your parking lot can connect to your network, they can potentially see your traffic, access shared files, and move laterally through your systems. The fix starts wit...

Lake Lewisville Marina is back to full hours for the season, and the timing could not be better. May on the lake means warm afternoons without the August heat, low wind most mornings, and water levels finally back where they should be after a wet spring. The marina restaurant patio reopened, the rental fleet is in the water, and the launch ramps stay open from dawn to dusk on weekends. If you keep a boat at the marina, the staff have been doing a good job staying on top of slip maintenance this offseason. Worth a Saturday drive over from Denton.
