I got a custom made engagement ring done at Kona Diamond Co with the expert help of Mike.
He was amazing every step of the way and helped me navigate a new experience with professionalism and care.
When my plans changed and I could no longer pick the ring up in Hawaii, he arranged for the ring to be shipped to the mainland for me and even included some of my finances favorite Hawaiian treats in the packaging.
If you are looking for help with anything jewelry related on the island or off of it, Mike and Kona Diamond Co. should be your first stop.
If I could give less than 1 star, I would. If you just got engaged, or are planning to get engaged, donʻt bother coming here. We let the owner, Mike, know that we just got engaged and that this is all brand new to us... We showed him a few styles of rings we wanted to set the diamond in (I proposed with a family ring, but we wanted to change the size and setting) - so he came back from the safe with something that caught our eye!
He says, "Would you like to see your diamond in this setting? Get a better feel for how it looks on her?" - my fiance and I look at each other, not knowing that was possible. We said sure!
He takes our diamond ring behind a counter while leaving us in the corner of the store, sitting down (Who knows if we still even have the same diamond we walked in with), bends the prongs, and pulls the diamond off. Eventually, my fiance and I decided we'd better go over there and see what's going on. (he didnʻt invite us over to the jewelry counter he was working with our ring on)
The diamond didnʻt fit well in the ring he brought out, so we said, "welp it wonʻt work, but thanks so much for trying!" He laughs, says ok, and hands us a clear small baggie with our diamond and split apart ring in it... I said, "You canʻt put the diamond back in its ring we came in with? - he chuckles again. "Oh no, a jeweler has to do that." .... How do you not disclose this to someone before offering to test the diamond in different settings?
Unbelievable. The lack of care or attention to detail was alarming. I would not trust him or that store at all.
I went in to inquire about silver and I was met with the older man snickering and making fun of the fact I cut up silver and make my own jewelry. Very unfriendly and rude people. I've been in there a few times over the years and its the same everytime with different inquiries for jewelry. I think they should treat all potential customers who come in with perfessionalism and Aloha.
Mikes awesome. He’s simple and to the point. Provides clear communication from looking for an engagement ring to getting it sized and letting you know when it’s ready.
Mike and Adam demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship and professionalism in the creation of my custom engagement ring. Their friendly and informative demeanor, coupled with their expertise, made the experience highly satisfactory. I wholeheartedly recommend Kona Diamond Co. for any and all jewelry requirements.
