Worked on neighbor house for well over a year for a porch job and few other smaller things. Left a mess. Would run heavy equipment on my driveway continuously with no permission. I even told asked them to please come knock on my door (which would you think that would be standard professionalism) and see if it was ok or not.
Hard review to write. Our initial experience with the design team was very positive. However, the execution of the design left a lot to be desired. Three days before the start, we were notified of a need to delay due to product availability. Assured that would be the last delay. Simply not true. The proposed 8 week project took nearly 14 full weeks! The entire process was very disruptive to our home and family, and was very frustrating to say the least. The bathroom is finally done, is functional and looks nice. The one bright spot was our project manager, Jonny Liston, who listened to our concerns and tried to help. The workmanship is good. The end result is good. The disregard for our inconvenience and the timing issues were not good. I cannot fully recommend.
We contracted with J&R construction to help replace flooring in one of our rental homes. Professional and made sure the job was completed to our satisfaction. Easy to communicate with Jimmy and his team. Consider them for your next home remodeling project.
We have had great experiences with J & R Construction in projects for both our home and rental properties.
First and foremost, they are true to their word. In each project, they were on site at the agreed upon times.
Their work has been completed in a professional manner on time and the quality has been top notch.
Subsequent follow up is great. The owner (Jimmy McKinney) actually came back himself to correct one minor issue we had.
The company is competent, communicative and professional. I highly recommend them and will use them on any projects going forward.
We are in the process of working with J & R construction currently. I honestly hate to leave this review and have tried to give it time, but due to our experience this year, I cannot recommend them. I would like to separate business from personal, as this is not an attack against the character or integrity of the people in a personal way. But our experience working with them for business has been a nightmare. I see where someone comes up from J&R to respond to these to save face (who could blame them?) so I won't waste my time sharing all the details to enter into a public debate to match the one we've had to have off screen over our project. But I can't recommend their business at this point (so far the active project has been months) but if you include the design portion we went through we've worked with them since early February 2020. I will say the actual work done seems professional enough, but the communication and problem solving has been terrible which absorbs any stars I could give. The workers also left a lot of trash behind in our yard, a portion pictured below. In addition to the mess we've been sitting with while things are on hold from the miscommunication we had after the design phase (that didn't pay off quite so much as we had hoped), our wood that hasn't been used yet has been tipped since the day they left, and has been that way for coming up on two months next week, which is how long the porta potty has been taking up the third parking spot of our driveway, a spot we informed them we needed for our residence from the beginning.
If something changes I'll update my review but so far we and our neighbors have been super unimpressed, disappointed and don't have any idea when this ridiculous mess will be over. I would give them no stars based on level of irritation and dissatisfaction, but to be fair based on the half product that has been given so far looks finely done and the fact that I want to not assume the worst and trust the likable people I interacted with before actually signing the documents and forfeiting the money were being authentic and not just luring us in for business, I'll leave two stars. They also said they'd meet us half way on the up-charge required from the mistake we were trying to avoid when we paid the $1500 extra to do the design phase to begin with. Which kind of gets neutralized as far as getting a star because that was after a big falling out that was definitely not customer-minded or professional. I don't think you can leave no stars anyways. I'd just suggest going with a respectable person who actually cares about your business that knows your vision and will be the one personally working on your project that you can communicate with directly, especially if a problem comes up. Because all the players make for a big mess once you run into a problem. And of course, problems come with costs and inconveniences, like our drive way, and where the grass will be dead from our car parking on it and the dead grass under all the wood remnants that never got picked up after the project was delayed way longer than could've been even anticipated and the mound of dirt we didn't plan on moving til it was over not knowing it might never be over... just don't. There are plenty of amazing contractors out there. Good luck with your project!!
Edited to add an update from the conversation pictures for context. Today is 12/1/20, no word back although we did just message again on their communication portal. Project began on 9/30/20, last day of work was 10/8/20.
