I have an Audi A6 that was making a a humming/grinding noise at around 30 mph and progressively got louder with higher speed. I took my car to Shawn about 5 months ago. I wanted him to diagnose what I thought was a bad wheel bearing. After he ran his test he said that it was a failed drive shaft carrier. I know that is a common fault with my car but I didn’t really think it had anything to do w what I brought it to him for. Reluctantly, I let him do what he thought the problem was. I was trying to get repairs through warranty so it had already been close to a month of waiting for inspector/warranty payout. I ended up cancelling the warranty claim due to them being a pain in the ass and my car not being at a certified dealership/shop. Shawn recommended I buy a $400 drive shaft carrier replacement and that he would put it in for another $450. After about another 2 weeks he finally got the part in and after all that time nothing was changed or fixed. I’m sure changing that part was preventive maintenance as it was definitely going to have to be replaced soon. But as for the noise, I was convinced was a bad wheel bearing, it was still there w no difference. When I picked up the car he had me test drive it and even he heard the noise was still there and very prominent. He then tried to play it off like it could be a bad tire or maybe the brakes but the tires were only 1 year old. After paying him he said “maybe it’s the brakes” “if it doesn’t change after replacing brakes, bring it back and wheel look into wheel bearing”. I was very disappointed w my experience at this shop. I’m sure he’s a good mechanic but in my case he did a very poor job, and here I am 6 months later w a bad wheel bearing. If you choose to do business with this shop, personally I would diagnose the problem yourself and just have them change out the parts.
My Jeep Wrangler had a broken window regulator, I got the part for it, took it to Mr. Hughes that same day and he replaced it within an hour, charged a very good price. Very friendly also. Would highly recommend!!!
Friendly, knowledgeable, and helped us get back on the road right away! Thank you so much Hughes Automotive!
I took my BMW to Mr. Hughes, after searching high and low for someone who worked on foreign automobiles in New Mexico, and thank God, I found Mr. Hughes, I had issues with chassis stabilization, ABS, fuel hose leak and other sensors in my automobile. I only work in New Mexico, and my hitch was ending soon. That's a 9hr drive home. I took it to Mr. Hughes, and when I tell you he got me together, he got me together. I even had him give my car a tune up since I recently hit my 100k mark. The car has been driving phenomenal. I not only recommend Mr. Hughes for foreign vehicles repair. I just know American brand vehicles he will do just as amazi... Shawn has done a couple of lifts on both my new trucks over the last few years. He knows what he's doing and his prices are fair. Thank you Shawn!
