I just had a full refret & Plek done on my 1974 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe and these guys absolutely nailed it (as always). I’ve been bringing all of my guitars to FCG for the last few years because they are incredibly knowledgeable, they take pride in their work, and are just all around great people and easy to work with!
Best guitar Luthiers in KC... I own 12 guitars, brought a few in for major work I didn't know they needed but they got me squared away. Just dropped off another for a full refrett. They're a honest shop that won't overcharge or sell you on something you don't need. I've brought in at least 6 guitars they said just needed truss rod adjustment and took care of it right there on the spot. ( Obviously mileage will vary based on their current projects and availability) One needed a new bone nut, had loose cables electric acoustic, one needed a frett dress and level One needed neck repair, 5 of them got set ups ( 3 were of the above) And the... Update 10/9/2025 I just picked up my 1960s greco 920 semi hollow rosewood back and sides. They did a refrett with stainless steel frets and a plek job. I'm in awe. To be fair the guitar did have 2" action before from the previous owner, however as of right now this is the best intonated guitar I own. Plugged into an amp this guitar sounds like a dream with a very long reverb. I had them install rotosound ultra mag 10s for the string choice (I brought them in the case). I definitely made the right choice. These strings are freaking smooth and make the Greco have a vintage pop to it for more rock style blues and still plays blues just fine. I can't get over how this feels and plays and I'm just an amateur. I may own lots of guitars but I'm primarily a sound engineer that's picked up an executive producer role. More than likely these guitars will get played more by guest in the studio than myself until I get better. Anywho thanks again to fountain city guitar works and seuf guitars for doing such an amazing job!
I took my Martin D-16 to get setup and Fountain City did everything right. I bought this when I was traveling to see my newborn niece at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, so it has a very special place in my heart. It was great for a long time but it needed action adjustment. When I took it in, they also pointed out that some of the banding on the bottom needed to be fastened back into place. That was something I didn't even notice! The repair was also very timely. I'm so used to waiting forever for something and they were not only quick about the work but it sounds arguably better than it ever has. Each interaction I had with the employees was gr... I played it when I got there and almost cried because I was so happy. They have a customer in me for as long as they are around. I will be recommending them to all my friends that play music. Couldn't be happier with the end result. Thanks again for doing outstanding work throughout the entire process! You guys are the best!
Exceptional shop the guys are super friendly and the work done on my Strat was superb! My guitar sounds absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend Fountain City! Thanks again for fine tuning my instrument!
