Carpet One Desert Design in Elko was wonderful to work with! Pam Stull, manager, gave special attention to choosing our backsplash tile and making sure we were on the same page every step of the way. Ray, our installer, did excellent work and made sure every piece of tile fit perfectly, even around challenging window trim. And…he even mopped our floor! My husband and I are very pleased with the results and would work with Desert Design again.
We came to Desert Design because we were interested in remodelling our kitchen and 2 bathrooms and wanted to update our flooring. Because we could not get anyone to sit down with us to discuss the remodel we chose to proceed with the bare minimum – flooring and countertops. On one of our trips to Desert Design we stood in a darkened portion of the showroom, picking out our countertops. Staff walked by us and left us standing in the dark without so much as an acknowledgement. When the project was completed we had a few concerns but overall were happy with the floor and counter installation. The one exception was the carpet installation and we asked if Desert Design would come out to conduct a final inspection to address our concerns. What was scheduled to be a 2 day job turned into a 3 day job that could not be completed because there was not enough carpet to finish the stairs. We waited an additional 6 weeks for the carpet installation to be complete. We were left with visible carpet seams on the main upper level and bedroom and the staircase carpeting was not installed properly. The owner eventually contacted us almost a month after our inquiry to do an inspection. Although she did not come out, she offered to have someone come out to correct some but not all of our concerns with the carpet. We repeatedly asked for timelines to replace the carpeting and were never given an answer. We came to Desert Design based on reviews with the expectation we would receive the same professional and quality work. Unfortunately that was not our experience - the owner was divisive an unapologetic and at one point referred to me as a “knit-picking brat.” We eventually came to a resolution and though we were not happy with the outcome we chose to move forward as it became clear our concerns would not be adequately addressed. Ultimately the owner accused us of not wanting “the issues solved” and suggested we “just want[ed] to complain.” Given the owners tone it was difficult to come up with what we felt was a reasonable and fair compromise. In addition to this larger project, we expressed interest in having a wool carpet remnant cut to a smaller size and bound so it could be made into an area rug. Although we were told it could be done and despite several in-person conversations, telephone communications, and unanswered emails Desert Design failed to respond to our questions re: the process and would not provide us with an estimate to complete the work. Overall, we were very disappointed.
Getting someone to measure and install carpet in rural areas in Nevada is tough. I had been told at other stores that we were too far out for them to come measure our rooms. I expected more of the same at Desert Design, but they were so easy to work with. They walked me through every step and even let me take their samples home so I could choose the right color for our home. Pam was prompt at coming to measure and she worked with me to schedule the install when it was convenient for us. The install went great. The carpet looks amazing and feels more luxurious than I expected! My daughter wants to lay on the floor now and I find our dog... They were great to work with. Helpful staff and fast install. The installation of the carpet went faster than anticipated with no issues.
Very pleased with the desert design team, sales team was quick to help go over products in store, measure, and get us on the schedule as soon as possible. The installer was able to come a day earlier than expected and did a great install.
