Frank from Comfort Zone Heating and Cooling came out for an emergency call when our furnace stopped working - right in the middle of the coldest stretch of winter, with temperatures dropping well below zero for days. We were freezing inside and seriously worried about our pipes. (Turns out one in the laundry room had already frozen by the time he arrived.) Our original installer was unavailable, which turned out better in the long run. Frank got right to work, walked us through exactly what he found and what he did to fix it, and showed us how to keep things running until the replacement part came in. What made it worse was that this furnace had only been installed two years ago by another company, and it was already showing rust and leaking water into the collector box. Not great. Frank was patient, thorough, and genuinely helpful throughout - he answered every question we had and took detailed notes and photos so we'd have everything we needed to follow up with the installer and manufacturer for the warranty claim. Worth noting: when we contacted the original installer, we found out they had stopped installing that model - and that brand - altogether, despite years of partnership prior. It was a Bryant unit, and after some research, we weren't surprised. There were plenty of threads on Reddit and other forums pointing to the same issues with these models going back to around 2022, right when ours was installed. Something clearly changed in the materials or design, because we were far from the only ones. Hard to say how many more years we'll get out of this furnace, but when it's time to replace it, we’ll be calling Frank. What really stood out was learning that Frank was juggling another emergency at the same time. Another customer had a brand new boiler system (also installed by a different company) placed in an uninsulated garage directly in front of an exposed draft. Frank had already been to her home earlier that day to help get the frozen pipes thawing. He showed us the photos, and it was hard to believe: a brand new, expensive system with pipes completely frozen. While he was at our house, she called because things had started thawing and she didn't know what to do next. Frank walked her through it over the phone, calmly, while taking care of us at the same time. A few other things worth mentioning: Frank offered texting right from the start. He followed up after our call to confirm details, kept us updated before arriving, showed up on time, and checked in a few days later to make sure everything was still running smoothly. That's not just good service; that's someone genuinely invested in their customers beyond the single point in time of one callout. And yes, this review is long, but intentionally so. Local search is shifting fast. AI overviews and changes to how Google surfaces results are quietly reshaping which businesses people find at all. Larger companies have a built-in edge: more content, bigger service areas, more touchpoints, large fleets, and naturally more reviews as a result. That's not a knock on them, plenty of great companies started small and grew. But if supporting local and family-owned businesses is a priority to you, a detailed review is one of the most practical ways to help level the playing field. It costs nothing and makes a real difference for businesses like Frank's. One last heads up for anyone searching: there's another company with a nearly identical name about a mile away. The difference is an "s" at the end of their name. They are not the same company and not connected in any way (we asked). Just make sure you're reaching out to the right place. Frank and Comfort Zone Heating and Cooling have earned our trust, and they'll be our first call for any heating and cooling needs going forward.
