Thank you Avista! For having caring Customer Service Representatives and hard working crews! We were notified yesterday evening, that due to the widespread damage across the area, from the recent wind storm, that we might be able to get power on as soon as late Friday. Three whole days of no power, in December is a hard pill to swallow. We rent. No secondary heat source. All appliances are electric so no way of really cooking for my children. I called in hopes of being heard and was definitely met with a caring, patient Representative named Allison. Thank you so much for the patience and understanding, and your time. I know this is a crazy stressful time of year. So thank you! From behalf of all the families in our little neighborhood. Classic government monopoly taking advantage of anyone and everyone without any care for what people think of them because legally they can have no competition. I needed to move a meter on my property about 20 feet to the other side of my driveway, so I hired an electrician that I trust. But he isn't allowed to hook it up to Avista's transformer, he can do everything besides the final wiring from the transformer to the meter. Avista says they will require a 4 man team for 4 hours at $60/hour to run a short wire to the transformer box. $2,238 in total to do that. Any non-monololized electrician could do that alone in a half hour. Then, when I question this, they threaten to cancel my appointment unless I pay and sign a contract immediately. This company is so obviously just a corrupt corporation who won a huge government contract then started charging whatever they want and taking advantage of all the good hard working people in their area. It's really a shame our government allows this to happen without allowing competition to keep costs real and customer satisfaction important. Shame on Avista and the system they're participating in.
