started noticing our chimney was leaning slightly last fall and it was one of those things that once you see it you cant unsee it. kept going outside and staring at it from different angles like a crazy person lol. called a few places and got mixed answers, one guy said it was fine and another said the whole thing needed to come down and be rebuilt which seemed extreme. called Aniol and their approach was completely different, the guy actually came out with a level and showed me exactly how far off it was and what was causing it. turns out the footing underneath had some settling issues and the mortar joints on one side had deteriorated way worse than the other which was pulling it over slowly. they shored up the base, repointed the entire chimney stack, replaced the crown, and straightened things out. crew was professional the whole time and kept me updated on what they were finding as they went which i really appreciated bc i was nervous about the whole thing. also had them do some masonry repair on our front steps while they were there since a few bricks were popping out. everything has been solid since, chimney looks straight and sturdy, steps look great. went through a full winter with no movement at all. really glad i got a third opinion before either ignoring it or tearing the whole thing down.
