We recently returned home after being gone for several months having medical issues. The house was 84 degrees and the battery’s were dead in the thermostat was, so I replaced the batteries then called A-Tech sense they replaced the unit in 2017. The tech was nice enough to allow us to eat lunch because there was nothing in the refrigerator. When we finished I called and he said he would be right there. When he hit here I showed him the unit, he looked in the top of the AC and said it was frozen. And to leave the unit off with only the Dan running to melt the ice. I asked what we had to do to get rid of the battery powered thermostat and use the ones that use power from the unit. He said it needed a neutral wire on the thermostat to use 24 volt power. I said that shouldn’t be a problem sense the wire that goes to the thermostat was just 3 feet away. I had taken the filter out and he removed the filter cover and the cover to the inside unit and the thermostat and it was on the floor. We both started discussing the issue of a. Neutral wire, he got either pissed or frustrated and walked out of the house. I put the inside cover back on, put the thermostat back in its mount on the wall which the fan started running again, now with the thermostat in place. Waited for the ice to melt. These people won’t be called ever again because the house belongs to my mother which is 96 years old and he walked out with a hot house and parts on hefty floor.
