We initially had a great experience with this company. They came out quickly to do a quote, and everything seemed promising. We also had different companies come out for a quote, and our biggest regret is not going with a different company.
We live in a new subdivision and had our fence installed in July. It’s only been 3 months, and we’re having numerous issues. To start, during installation, they didn’t follow our request to extend the fence 10 feet forward to the house on both sides. By the time they had dug up and put up the posts, they only went 10 feet forward on one side. Their workers told me it was too late to change it and suggested I contact the company for a reimbursement. We did get a very minor price deduction, but that’s it.
The double gates they installed don’t open all the way. When you try to open them, they mess up the grass and get jammed. Our single gate requires force to close and already has wood that’s broken off. Panels are cracking, and posts are warping. We noticed their nails aren’t even properly attached to anything.
We reached out and had one of the OWNERS (I believe Nick?) come out to look at it. While here, he questioned why we chose a double gate, stating he wouldn’t have recommended it. When it was mentioned to their team initially, no one indicated it was an issue. He also pointed out the poor cut at the bottom of the gate, questioning if his team did it. Yes, they did. When asked about one of the significantly warped posts, he mentioned it should probably be changed but doubted it would be if Julie marks a flag there because it could cost them $10,000 to fix if they hit a line. Was this an issue the first time? For other things, he tried to say it was “normal”.
Since coming to look at everything, no one had reached out or contacted us with any updates. I decided to contact them today and their office manager said she barely received my request from Nick this past Friday (10/18). This fence cost us just under $10,000, and they have shown no urgency in addressing our requests. They were quick to take our money but are dragging to fix their mistakes. Save yourself the hassle and go with a more reliable company.
Not to mention, their workers were very sloppy leaving cement all over the grass, our driveway and around the posts.
Again, save yourself your money. Look into other companies. Will not be recommending to any neighbors.
Here I am adding to my review one year late, extremely frustrated I can’t add a separate review. I would never recommend Illinois Fence Company based on our experience.
Our neighbor was specifically told that their older fence was NOT supposed to be removed, yet the company removed it anyway. During the installation, they also nailed onto our fence posts and fence. They supposedly came back to “fix” the issue, but honestly I haven’t noticed any difference from whatever was supposedly repaired.
What makes this even more frustrating is that their workers themselves were commenting on how poorly our fence was done — even though it was the same company that installed ours previously.
I know some people will say this should be taken up with the neighbor, but the neighbor was told by the company that they were unable to install panels on their side, despite the fact that they previously had a fence installed there before, leaving now only our fence panel (which we did NOT approve nor allow). Now there are open gaps where my reactive dog has access to three neighboring dogs who constantly stick their noses under the fence, creating an ongoing safety and stress issue.
Overall, this company is extremely disappointing.
