My experience was nothing short of a nightmare: Will guaranteed 1.5 week completion but delayed to 2 months, delivered subpar (and incomplete) work, became hostile when confronted, took my money, and left me to clean up the mess—literally and financially. I don’t doubt he used to do good work based off the older 5 star reviews, but something has clearly changed and he is no longer trustworthy. I hope this saves others from the stress and frustration I went through and still am going through. In early August, I hired Will to install a 41-foot standard wood fence—a small job that should have taken 2-3 days at most. The property was already mostly enclosed by neighboring fences. I made the mistake of paying the full amount upfront, and was told the job would be completed within a week and a half. 8 weeks later, it was still unfinished, and I ultimately fired him. What happened during those 8 weeks was incredibly frustrating: • Will delayed the project 8–10 times, each time with a new excuse—long COVID, blisters on his hands, rocky soil, tree roots, or claiming he couldn’t afford labor (despite having already been paid in full for it). • I was patient for the first 5 weeks due to his claimed illness, and at one point, he did apologize for the delays. • By week 6, I gave him a final deadline or asked for a refund. When I expressed that I was losing trust, he became aggressive and profane, repeatedly yelling at me over the phone. • After missing the final deadline and receiving pressure from me for a refund, he showed up to the property, installed a few fence posts and dumped about $300 worth of lumber on the lawn — clearly trying to make me happy or appease me. I pressured him daily for four more days to finish the work, but he left it only 20% complete. To make matters worse, a professional contractor I hired later inspected his work and said it was so poorly done it would all need to be removed and redone from scratch. I lost all trust in his ability to maintain a reserve and project financially. He told me over the phone that ‘the money is gone,’ and he couldn’t hire other contractors due to being unable to compensate them for a few weeks. Eventually, I hired a new company, who tore out his work and completed the entire job in just 2.5 days. I called Will and requested a 75% refund, which was generous to him because it would covered everything except the few materials he left on the property—materials we used to complete the job. He refused, and once again became combative and unprofessional on the phone. When I mentioned pursuing legal action, he retaliated by threatening a lien on the property for the materials — even though Florida law prohibits contractors from placing a lien when materials are paid for upfront, which they were. To top it all off, he even yelled at my tenant, which speaks volumes about his lack of professionalism.
