Wonderful local store with helpful staff. They have a good selection of used gear with fair prices. In my own experience I find service photo to be preferable to ebay/mbp as you can actually assess the quality of a used item in person before you buy. The drive over is more then worth the time saved fighting online returns.
The friendly staff were great resources. They weren't able to help with my camera repairs, but they had a list of people who could help, indicating what their expertise was in. I needed for film to be developed, they quoted a 1 week wait but maybe as much as 2 for the holidays. The service they use will also digitize film.
TL;DR: Canon SX740 HS SOLD HERE for retail price, and what a lovely shop. First, I have to disclose that I am nothing more than an average person who loves taking pictures with little more than an iPhone. Luckily for many of us, the camera on the typical smart phone has improved significantly since its inception. However in my opinion, there is still just something special about a physical camera. Something about the charm and warmth and feeling you get from their photos that you cannot get from a phone camera. At least not yet. In the past year or so I have been scouring the internet looking for a practical camera. Unfortunately, the one that consistently checked the boxes, the Canon SX740 HS— the point and shoot camera that doesn’t require a ton of fancy settings but still takes a quality photo, the compact one I can carry with me everywhere— not only has been discontinued by the manufacturer so it is impossible to find, but it is in such high demand after going viral that if you do track it down, it is sold at an exorbitantly higher price that it makes you question whether it’s even worth it to buy at the new cost. After searching for the camera for quite some time, getting ready to suck it up and pay more, or settle for a reasonable dupe that wouldn’t quite meet my needs, I finally found it here. And not only was it actually being sold brand new for retail price, hundreds of dollars less than other retailers, but beyond that, the people at Service Photo Supply, Inc. could not have been more accommodating, kind, helpful, and fair. It’s heartwarming to know businesses like this still exist and they are right here in Baltimore. If I admit to eavesdropping just a tad on conversations with other customers, I could tell the staff is truly knowledgeable and they seem passionate about what they do. I cannot recommend this place enough for your camera needs. I will certainly be back for mine.
