Micah helped me with a setup on my Luna Acoustic guitar and helped tighten that strap button / jack. He was able to get me in the same day I called and he did great work on the action adjustment. He was really fun to talk with and extremely knowledgeable. Looking forward to the next time I need some assistance. :) THANK YOU Micah!
I’ve known Micah for about 15 years and hadn’t seen him in over ten years. He was always a genuine and friendly guy and he sings and plays guitar really nicely, so when I saw him forming his career as a luthier on Facebook from afar, almost a decade ago, I was pretty sure he’d do great work. I’ve been playing guitar for 22+ years and I have a few different guitars that I absolutely adore, one being my Breedlove acoustic with electric pickup. There had been an annoying buzz coming from the frets for almost 5 years, so I couldn’t plug it in through the pickup or the buzzing would be too noticeable. It made recording and playing live a pain, as I’d need to mic up everything. There were some other issues that I forgot about since I couldn’t plug the guitar into an amp (like a shorted cable for the pickup) and some I didn’t even know about (like a bridge but issue). I’ve tried getting it fixed at guitar center with various technicians 4 different times in the past few years, and every time, they charge me a cheap rate but fix nothing, and the guitar feels generally the same when I get it back, with no difference to the buzzing. I had been telling Micah I’d bring my guitar for him to fix the past few years but never pulled the trigger until last month…. Most definitely 5 years too late and I’ll never make the same mistake again! Micah not only fixed the issues I knew about, but he also fixed a few issues I had forgotten about and didn’t know about. The buzz is gone. The fretboard is clean and shiny and beautiful and feels like butter. He fixed the shorted cable, among other things like the nut, and the bridge bolt. He taught me the history of the guitar and where it comes from and explained some of its unique structural qualities that I never knew about. He didn’t need to do half of what he did and I would’ve been satisfied, but instead, he made this guitar look and play like it’s a completely new instrument and even taught me some valuable knowledge about my own cherished guitar. When I got home, I played it like I did the day I bought it 17 years ago, for hours and hours and hours. Micah absolutely gave me the best experience I’ve ever had when taking my guitar to get fixed/setup and I couldn’t be more grateful. He charges a fair price for the quality of work and he takes pride in and gets joy from his work, and it’s immediately apparent in both his repairs and builds. I highly recommend Micah and Plante Guitar Co and won’t use another person to fix up my instruments (and potentially build me one in the future!) ever again. Micah is the man if you need a guitar fix/setup!
