I get my mulch here every year and other materials as different projects pop up. I was in need of some medium sized stones to create a boarder between my yard and my neighbors yard and I noticed they had a pile of quarry rocks tucked into the back their lot. I asked how much would it be to fill my small pick up (4ft bed). Couldn't get a straight answer on a price so i figured I'd load up my truck and show them what I wanted. I climbed through mud and ankle deep water to grab the rocks and load them myself. When I drove back up to get a price I'm told $100 for maybe 25 small to medium sized rocks. Maybe I'm wrong here but the price seemed ridiculous for maybe 25-30 quarry rocks that they have just sitting in the back of their lot. If this is a fair price then it would have been nice to know before I loaded my truck. I unloaded the rocks and I am all set with this place. Feel like they were trying to make a little too much money off a product that's currently sitting in a swamp in the back of their lot. ***Update*** I appreciate the response from the owner but the damage is done for me. Tell the guy that sits in the booth all day to smile once on a while and be more forthcoming with pricing information and this wouldn't have been an issue. He acts like he can't be bothered with any questions. I've already switched to using Silvercity Materials in Meriden. The gentleman there was at least pleasant to deal with.
