Outstanding service and attention to detail with the job. Best price point and warranty from having four other estimates locally. All aspects were explained and thoroughly communicated by Tina at the office.. Excellent foreman and friendly workers. For such a big project I was concerned about getting it right the first time. I would go with Mcghee's again.
We just had a new driveway with an extension completed. All I can say is "wow, wow, and wow!!" From the beginning McGhee's was extremely professional. The first person I was in contact with was Tina and what a great person!!! Turns out she is from Brooklyn, NY which is where my mother grew up so, we had a connection. Next, she scheduled the estimator to come out and meet with us. Here is the next person who was unbelievable - Shawn Green. This man had to jump through lots of hoops getting everything approved by the City of Portsmouth Zoning dept and Engineering dept. After a total of five trips and many phone calls everything was ready to go. Because of "new" zoning rules, we had to make a lot of changes to our original plans but overall, our new driveway is gorgeous!!! The crew that McGhee's has are the hardest working group of men I have ever seen do a job. And, on top of that, they are pleasant, courteous, and were respectful of our property. I would highly and without a doubt recommend McGhee's for any and all concrete work. They are a gem of a company. Thank you Luke McGhee for owning such a wonderful business. Here are some before, during, and after photos.
We have had a horrible experience with McGhee’s. They gave us a $10k quote to replace and expand our driveway with fiberglass reinforced concrete, which they did in March 2024. We waited over a week to drive on the slab, to ensure it was fully dried.
After the initial pour we had to have them come out because they didn’t pour it all the way up to our garage. 2 weeks afterwards we noticed some large chips that they came out and patched. By May 2024, less than six weeks later, we had a massive crack running down the center of the slab. We spent a full YEAR contacting them, trying to get them to come fix the crack.
They finally came out and patched it in March 2025. The color was off which we were a little wary about but hoped it would be close to matching the other concrete. Here we are in August and the concrete clearly does not match even after fully drying. They clearly used a different mix from the original pour. On top of that, the patch is not flush with the rest of the driveway.
Our driveway has continued to chip and has chunks missing, and it’s pretty evident they did not include the fiberglass in the concrete. I understand concrete chips and cracks, but for 2 people who works from home and don’t drive very often, the driveway sure is chipping a lot. This whole process has been upsetting, time-consuming, and a huge waste of money.
