Hired Mauch Chunk Chimney Sweeps today and they did a great job cleaning my chimney. We just bought a house with a fireplace and I needed it all explained to me. The owner and his assistant both answered all my questions no problem (I had a lot). They didn't make me feel stupid for not knowing things. We also had been advised by the home inspector that we had a crack in the fire box and might need it replaced. They checked it out and said our fire box was fine and thicker than the standard material used today, so it wouldn't make sense to replace it. I would have had no idea and they could have charged me for the repair, but I appreciate their honesty. They came in, got to work, and explained to me the condition of my fireplace, chimney cap, and that I should get a smaller grate (at Lowe's or somewhere, they weren't trying to sell me anything). They were sweet with my dog too. Also I was alone in the house and felt safe with them--no creeper vibes. 👍 Ladies (and gents), you can rest assured that they'll treat you fairly no matter who you are.
