Malama Appliance Repair

The service from the company was excellent from the first phone call to the end of the service appointment. Jay was prompt, explained issues clearly and completely, and tried a "fix" to avoid a larger bill, if possible. While the fix didn't work, I am very pleased with his honesty and service. His prices are also very reasonable. ETA 02-26-2026: After a free second visit, Jay had to go ahead and order a part. He replaced it today with the new one, and everything is working. He was prompt, is reliable, knows his stuff, and explains things well, too. The bill was about half for the part-overall, I think his rates are fair and well worth it. I am SO glad I found him.

I called about a washing machine not working. It was around Xmas, so they said we had to wait two weeks or pay an emergency fee of $280 just to show up. We needed it working so we agreed. Jay who was apparently the owner shows up. It’s an Airbnb so we are not on site. The next day I get an invoice that just says - no problem found - here’s your bill for $280. He didn’t bother to call while he was on site and explained that we must’ve imagined that there was a problem, despite having tried to use the machine many times. He expected us to pay. I texted him and his response- what good would a phone call me - we are very busy - the machine was working a phone call was not going to change that. Very rude! Subsequently our Cleaner goes to try the machine again and of course it’s not working. We request that they come back and we meet and show us that it actually worked or we show them that it doesn’t work. His office worker says if you pay, we will come back again. J. pops up and says - go find someone else. He still wants us to pay the bill, of course. Meanwhile, we wasted two weeks, not having the machine working.

Malama is an excellent appliance service. They were great at communicating our options, setting up our repair and letting us know about the arrival of our technician and his progress during the repair. In our case we need to replace the door gasket on our washer and by providing Malama with our serial number they we able to bring the required replacement and take of us in one visit - I would highly recommend these folks, they were amazing from start to finish.
