Kimminau Wood Floors

We had Kimminau Wood Floors refinish the original hardwood floors upstairs in our home and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The team was professional, communicative, and clearly takes a lot of pride in their work. Our floors look absolutely beautiful—like brand new—while still preserving the character of the original wood. The process was smooth, timelines were met, and everything was left clean and tidy when the job was done. We couldn’t be happier with the results and would highly recommend Kimminau Wood Floors to anyone looking for quality craftsmanship and a great overall experience.

Kimminau Floors eventually did an adequate job refinishing my floors in mid-2025, but the process getting there did not go well. I waited until January 2026 to post a review in order to assess how the final finish has held up. Their initial finish was a failure and had to be re-coated. The failure occurred due to the product selected by Kimminau (i.e., Berger-Siedel “Green Star”) and/or the workers’ application of the product. The initial finish was quickly and easily marred by my dog’s claws within a few weeks of the dog’s protective socks coming off (Photo 1). Kimminau agreed to re-coat the top coat using a different product (i.e., Loba “2K Duo”), but only after swearing at the homeowner and threatening to walk away. Kimminau’s lack of impulse control and disrespect was disappointing. The re-coated floor has subsequently performed in accordance with the product’s stated expectations. Other problems during the project were due to workers skipping a required step and negligence. Nail holes and cracks on the stair treads were not filled before they were stained and sealed. Their “fix” was to push putty in the holes, leaving noticeable smears (Photo 2.) In many areas stain was slopped onto painted baseboards and other surfaces (Photo 3), easily avoidable by using a brush to apply stain near the baseboards. More than 50 linear feet new base shoe was put down but not secured with nails; the unsecured base shoe pulled away from the baseboard when vacuuming the floor (Photo 4). Miters were poorly made in multiple places (Photo 5). If you are paying top dollar, as in this situation ($10/square foot overall), you may want better trained and supervised workers and far more professionalism.

Kimminau Floors is the best! After consulting with many companies on installing new hardwood and refinishing/staining, we chose to partner with Kimminau. From the start, Ben was excellent in his professionalism, care in answering questions, setting realistic expectations, and quoting a very fair price. His crew continued this trend when they came out to install. They were efficient, on schedule, and did a perfect job. No swirls on the sanding, the color match stain to our other existing hardwoods was unnoticeable - great match. The quality and character of his crew was top notch - very friendly, and they addressed items that we brought up during the job without hesitation. Ann wrapped things up with us on the final walk through and cleaning, and she was tremendous in sharing how we should care for our new floors moving forward and reassured us they are a phone call away if we have any questions or concerns. We plan to have the rest of our floors done by Kimminau at a later time, and will continue to sing their praises to anyone we know who’s looking for the same. A+ for Kimminau Floors - I can say with confidence they are a cut above the rest!
