Michael and Alonso did a dryer vent cleaning for me today. This is after Brandon did the initial inspection a few days ago. I signed up for the membership plan last summer to get a discount on a big repair I needed and it's more than paid for itself. Michael, Alonso, and Brandon have all been thorough, professional, and courteous. The same goes for Tim and Eric that came for a separate HVAC issue and scheduled inspection. Overall, I'm very pleased with this company and happy that my neighbor recommended them. The prices are fair (not the cheapest you can find if you want to hunt for someone sketchy, but definitely not the most expensive), and the work is high quality, but most importantly, there's a wealth of knowledge behind a big team that stand behind their service. The name certainly matches the experience I've had.
I would like to thank Michael and Maykol for coming out to help with our plumbing issue in our basement. They were very kind prompt and professional. They both cared for our home and floor as if it were theirs and also educated us on what is the correct way our pipes should be and direction our run off should go. They also informed us information on our sinks and parts needed so that our drainage run efficiently. Thanks again guys I would recommend to my family and friends.
We have contracted Honest Abe for all of our plumbing needs for the past 10 years and have always received professional and reliable service without any problems or issues. When we needed help with our HVAC system, we knew Honest Abe was who we needed to call. Again, we received prompt, reliable, professional service. This was especially important since we had just had a major snow storm. I highly recommend Honest Abe home services.
I have a house that seems to have all the major issues come up at once. I am seem to be meeting all divisions of the company in away too short of a time and have been very happy with all of the technicians. First up was Tayla for a broken steam boiler. I was not aware it should have been getting cleaned every year. It had a few issues. Tayla took the time to explain all of the repairs to me and show me the damage. She also showed me how to drain some water from it weekly to avoid build up and extend the life. She recommended I purchase a service agreement, which I have already received more in discounts than it cost. She noted that I may not have ever had a liner added to my 1890 chimney and recommended that I have that inspected. So next up - Brandon. He took a lot of time to check out all my chimneys. He showed me where the grout had issues inside the one in question. He also took the time to inspect with a drone and provided all the pictures with the estimate. Since I was having the boiler and chimney estimates/work done, I decided that it was time to get an estimate on replacing the 20+ year old unit that had died at the end of the summer. Next up - Tim and Moshe. Both were great. My current air handler is not to code (probably an understatement) and the configuration of having it in a cabinet over the third floor stairs with the duct running up to a very shallow attic gave them quite a challenge. The spent a lot of time considering all the ways to approach it that would work best for me. I believe the proposed system will provide something that will work well for me. They made sure to include rotating it with an access panal so the new system (unlike the old one) can be serviced without trying to figure out how to put up scaffolding or risking injury climbing above stairs. You would think that would be it but then I went to flush my really expensive toilet that has a grinder and pump to get the water to the sewer line 3 feet above the toilet. Tayla recommended Sol to come out and look at it. He came and in the process of assessing it flushed it and - wouldn't you know it - it worked again. He was very pleasant and had a sense of humor for coming out to a call (included with the contract so no charge) for a repair that was not needed. Over all, every technician that has come out has been knowledgeable, pleasant and spent time explaining everything to me. I would recommend Honest Abe to for any repairs. Because it is so hard to find a plumber that also is an expert in Steam boilers, I can not speak to competitive pricing, but I do not feel that any of the charges were unreasonable for the amount of work needed and the quality of the repairs.

**Beware of HONEST ABE - HVAC Division!**
I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with HONEST ABE Plumbing, Heating & Cooling - HVAC Division, and I feel compelled to share my story to warn others.
In early 2024, I hired a reputable insulation company to blow fiber insulation into my attic. They thoroughly documented the process and took photos of the attic. No one entered the space after the job was completed until later in 2024, when I scheduled an Air Duct Repair Diagnostic with HONEST ABE. Two of their employees arrived to perform the diagnostic and, unfortunately, one of them stumbled while in the attic crawl space, causing a loud bang. I heard the sound but did not know what it was at that time.
May 2025, a visible crack appeared in my ceiling below the area where I heard the loud sound. I reached out to my insulation company to investigate, and their inspector confirmed that the insulation had been damaged – it was "mashed" and disturbed. The inspector noted that the damage was likely caused when someone stepped on the insulation instead of properly pushing the insulation aside then moving it back in place upon exiting. Then the inspector stated that someone fell, mashing more insulation and causing the ceiling below to crack. The inspector took photos of the damage and sent them to me, and based on their findings.
Given that HONEST ABE’s employees were the last ones to enter my attic, it is clear that they caused the damage.
However, when I contacted HONEST ABE to discuss the issue, I was met with a complete lack of accountability. I left multiple messages and waited two months for the owner to return from Israel. Once I finally spoke with someone, I was told that they would not take responsibility because there was no “proof” that their employees were the cause of the damage.
In essence, HONEST ABE said I cannot “prove” their employees were directly responsible for the damage. They would not acknowledge their role or take any responsibility for their actions that led to the damage. This is not only frustrating but dishonest and unprofessional.
Since I did not trust them to fix the issue, I hired another company to repair and re-paint the ceiling. The repair cost me $600, and I believe HONEST ABE should be fully responsible for reimbursing me for that amount.
**DO NOT TRUST HONEST ABE - HVAC Division.** Their refusal to take accountability and their unprofessionalism are completely unacceptable. They caused damage to my home, avoided responsibility, and left me with an unexpected cost that I had to finance. Save yourself the headache and hire someone else.
