Why Is My "Aux Heat" Running Constantly? ❄️ If you’re in Greensboro North Carolina and seeing "Auxiliary Heat" on your thermostat during this cold snap, don’t panic! When temperatures drop below 15°F, your heat pump is pushed to its physical limits. Here’s why those heat strips are working overtime: 1. Reaching the "Balance Point" Heat pumps are incredibly efficient, but they have a limit. Once it gets below 20°F, there is very little ambient heat left in the outdoor air to move inside. To keep your home at your desired temperature, your system engages auxiliary electric heat strips—think of them as a high-powered backup to bridge the gap....

Is "House Burping" the Ultimate Winter Wellness Hack? Move over, cold plunges. The latest viral trend is "house burping"—a funny rebrand of the German practice Lüften. The concept is simple: throw your windows wide open for 5–10 minutes a day, even in freezing winter. Why do it? Flush Toxins: It swaps stale, CO2-heavy air for fresh oxygen. Fight Mold: It releases trapped humidity that causes dampness. Boost Energy: Fresh air can reset your focus. It’s free, fast, and easier than a juice cleanse. So go ahead—let your home let it all out! Of course, if the idea of opening your windows in the winter doesn't excite, you can accomplish the...

Here’s why proactive replacement beats "emergency mode" every time: Why You Shouldn't Wait: Avoid the "Summer Queue": When the first heatwave hits, our phones ring off the hook. Waiting until July means you could be stuck in a weeks-long backlog while your house feels like a sauna. Off-Season Savings: Demand drives price. Planning your replacement in the spring often allows you to take advantage of better rebat...

We were recently chatting with our friend DeDe from DeDe's Real Estate Group, one of the realtors we frequently work with and she asked about HVAC horror stories we have seen or heard of. About an hour after having that conversation the story I am going to share happened: A homeowner installed their own thermostat over the winter during heating season. With the recent heat we are experiencing the air conditioning wasn't working correctly. They called a well-known, large HVAC contractor with great reviews. The technician arrives, troubleshoots the system and regretfully informs the homeowner the system needs to be replaced. Homeowner is shock...
