My family has been coming here for 4 generations. I know they have reset rings to be updated for the next generation wearing them. Never a problem. I took in a silver chain which needed to have the ring replaced. They're going to replace that clean the necklace up. Approximately $15. Have a great 2026! 1-6-26
I stopped here to see about getting my fiancés engagement ring mounted back onto a new ring as the ring and diamond broke off of each other (she lost the ring but found the diamond and its casing)
I left this store balling my eyes out as they took a couple of seconds to look at it and told me it was fake and CZ, and likely gold plated. So this made me feel I got ripped off when I bought it. I was very upfront with the employees at this store about being new to the jewelry world as I have never been engaged before.
Afterward I stopped by Mommoth Jewlers in Newport where they KEPT the ring to fully evaluate it and give me a formal estimate. To my surprise they told me the ring is 100% real gold and real moissanite. Which is what I bought. I wanted to steer from a diamond because mining diamonds isn't always ethically done.
This is much better and relieving news compared to what I got at C&L. The employees at MJ talked with me for several minutes and were very empathetic to my situation.
I would avoid the bland, and non compassionate interaction you will receive at C&L and head to Mommoth Jewlers instead.
Fantastic service and expertise! It’s very nice to interact with a hands on business owner that is extremely knowledgeable and has had the business in their family for generations. I have both had a watch repaired and purchased from them and will continue to do so in the future.
Nice Rolex and the owner was very knowledgeable and helpful but looked at a used 11.7 gram 10kt figuro bracelet that they wanted $1475 but I looked it up on Google and calculated it in penny weight like they go off of and even with the increase of gold in today's price it was only worth $975. I know they have overhead but $500. Then the girl that was showing me the bracelet kinda got snotty cause I was doing my research in the store to see if we were in the ballpark. I would of bought it but not at $500 over the worth of it. Also it wasn't even polished and scratched but I will let you fine people be the judge on whether or not you wanna spend your hard earned $$$$ there.
You can’t beat the service at a small independent shop like this. I took them a watch that a large downtown jeweler told me could not be repaired because the link they needed to fix the bracelet was no longer made. C&L sourced the piece from somewhere and my baby is as good as new! Two enthusiastic thumbs up for true professionals who actually care.
