I'm terrible with names so bear with me. From the gentleman who came out to give us an estimate to the installer and his assistant to the office staff when I came down to pay the bill were all first rate. Beautiful install. Work was done quickly and with little noise or disruption. Our house didn't even cool off much before they were done. Very happy, thank all involved.
Our furnace went out and we called them on the spot! They responded right away and was there within 30 mins. Furnace repaired within an hour! Excellent service!
We purchased a 40gal hot water tank from Clayton's a little over 6 years ago. 2 months outside the warranty, it quits working on Christmas Eve. I called and spoke with a tech who said they don't usually work on hot water tanks and couldn't do anything until after the holidays. (Understandable) But was very insensitive to the situation. After battling it out on the phone for nearly half an hour. He then has the owner call at my request. He seemed to understand our situation and at least showed compassion.
The original tank he sold us as new, had already been sitting several years in a warehouse and likely moved around who knows how many times. However, the warranty goes by the date of installation.
Even after telling him it was out of warranty, he told me not to worry about it. That his guys were on the way to pick up a new tank and that it would just be the labor cost to replace it. I think 80.00 an hour. (Now finding out it was 80.00 per tech per hour) The guys brought a 40gal shorter tank, which required them to replace all the water lines that had already been replaced (I was told it would be like for like) Then I get a call from the owner a few days after the installation saying that this wouldn't be covered under warranty and I have now been left with a 1200.00 bill.
To top it all off, after the installation, the water pressure in my house has been reduced to the point that two people can no longer use both showers at the same time. And, a short while later, due to the pressure change, it caused the pump in my dishwasher to quit working. Another 300.00 repair.
The owner is an extremely nice person to work with. And has been willing to work with us on time to pay it off. However, I have been taken on this one.
The hot water tank purchased with our home had lasted 13+ years. Goes to show the quality of workmanship has gone down on product like this.
I will say, in comparison to others, they are the way more affordable option.
Follow up. My dates were definitely off. I have corrected it.
No other company has ever installed a hot water tank in my house while I've owned it. I do however had several companies look at any upgrades I make for price comparisons.
It has been hit or miss on the water pressure regulator because it comes back just at or below requiring it. One tech says to install it, and another says it should be fine. I won't need it after this replacement.
Our hang-up is this. After advising the company, it was two months out of warranty, and I was told not to worry about it. That it would just be the installation cost. It really sucks to get hit with a 1200.00 bill.
