Tried to scam me on a carpet cleaner. Negotiated with me on the price. Made me take out the cash so paid an atm fee I didn’t want to pay since the credit/debit transaction fees were a lot. I walked out when the owner who had been watching the negotiations the whole time demanded 10 more dollars from me after an agreement was reached. He tried to make it my problem as in saying my memory is bad. Unprofessional.
Reviewing as a retail customer. I have no experience pawning items with them. I’ve visited maybe 6-8 times over the past three years. Nothing in the shop has a price on it, so you have to ask them for a price for any item you are interested in. They price items like they are a music store, but at a music store, they generally test things out, you can test on the store, and there is a return policy. Pawn shops that price their items slightly lower than typical used retail prices tend to make sales. This shop has had the same items on the shelves for years. Obviously, they can operate however they want, but I don’t recommend if you’re looking for any kind of deal on anything. You’re better off just going to Guitar Center or Music Go Round, where you can at least test things out and return. The final straw? I asked about 4 items and was told a price for each. In the process of bringing up the three items I planned to purchase, the price changed for every single item. 250 became 350. 100 became 250. Um, no thanks. Maybe putting price tags on things wouldn’t be such a bad idea…
I trusted Chris with my 1 carat diamond studs. I wanted to have screw backs put on them to guarantee their safety. It was a horrible mistake. I received no word about my earrings for some time and when I checked on them he said they were done and charged me $80. He’d already taken the money when I looked and saw that no work had been done. He quickly said he had been mistaken; it was just the jeweler’s estimate. He’d send them back out. Again I received no notification so I went back. This time they were really ready. However, he wanted me to pay on my estranged husband’s pawn ticket. I told him I didn’t want to and that it would take everything I had to make that payment. He continued to pressure me, at one point stating, “Your earrings will always be here.” The next time I returned of course my earrings were nowhere to be found. No apology, no compensation. It’s my fault for not getting them sooner.
John,Oakley and Chris are some good and far guys! They got me a great deal on my wife engagement ring and everything else I buy. And when I'm in a bind I know I can swing by there and they will take care of me...
