BG&S Transmission went above and beyond for me. They diagnosed and repaired my transmission in under 20 hours so I could get back on the road and make it home safely. Their team was professional, honest, and worked quickly without cutting corners. It's hard to find shops you can truly trust, but these guys absolutely delivered. I highly recommend BG&S Transmission to anyone needing reliable, fast, and quality work.
I was traveling through the area a few days before Christmas 2025 pulling a trailer when the transmission in my 2021 Silverado started overheating. Much to my surprise, Chevrolet installed a thermostat in the transmission coolant lines. The BG&S team were able to get the situation diagnosed, repaired and had me back on the road in less then 24 hours to Minnesota. It is now a few days after Christmas and we are in Texas with the the transmission working perfectly! Next stop California. If you live within 100 miles of this place and have a transmission problem they are the go to place!!! First class organization and customer service allow with great family run operation. Thanks BG&S!!
My experience with this place was very very bad. I would suggest anyone considering going here to go somewhere else. I have spent $6000 in two years on clutches with BG&S. The last one only lasted six months. The staff does not seem knowledgeable about the products they are selling and installing. This last time they installed a South Bend Stage 4 clutch on my car that is a daily driver. For God sakes, the car only has a four-cylinder in it!?! They also installed a CV axle shaft for me at the time of the clutch install. That lasted one week and it broke in Lincoln. We had to pay to tow it back from Lincoln. $400 tow billβ¦and have another shop repair it for a piece of mind. I took the car to Garys quality Automotive. They fixed me right up and provided a three-year 36,000 mile warranty on all parts and labor. BG&S has provided no warranty. BG&S is unwilling to take ownership of this gigantic failure.
I gratefully did not give this place my business. I was a traveler going through Nebraska on I80. I had an issue with my car and I called them and gave them my make and model, VIN number, OBD-II trouble code, and asked for a specific repair to be done (valve body replacement) not only did they refuse to give me an estimate on timeframe or cost to get the work done (I needed to get back on the road ASAP and needed to make a plan) but the owner of the shop got on the phone and insisted I had an upper mount valve body (I don't, it's a bottom mount and I told him that but he doubled down and said I have both upper and lower, at this point it was laughable the dishonesty coming out of his mouth) and he went on and said he dealt with this all the time and they needed to remove the whole transmission and to replace the torque converter etc. based on the trouble code. I get that they wanted to diagnose the problem themselves but when I am asking for a timeframe and you can't even provide that it's not helpful. And insisting I have an upper mount valve body when you have my VIN in front of you is seriously concerning. And saying that my repair is going to be well over $3,000 to do a torque converter etc. is incredibly dishonest and unhelpful business practices (unless they just don't know anything about transmissions, in which case they were just giving a very poorly educated guess, which I don't understand because I specifically told them what was wrong and what I needed done.) Anyway, I got the work done elsewhere for less than $2000 with brand new OEM parts installed. That shop did exactly was needed, valve body replacement, the correct diagnosis for the trouble code I provided for a knowledgeable and experienced mechanic with my year make and model of vehicle. I drove the car home 400 miles with no problem. This shop wants to talk you into things you don't need and really doesn't care to help out their customers, either that or they don't quite have enough experience to be considered a professional. Find another shop.
And last note, I shared my car repair story with a friend who used to live in nearby Nebraska. He said that he was glad my car got fixed but worried I had taken it to a dishonest shop he had once been at. He too had a long story of dishonesty from a specific shop owners. Not surprisingly I came to find out that the dishonest shop he was talking about was this exact same shop. Yet another reason I am glad I didn't go here. His story is not my reason for review, it is extra information that comes third party so take it or leave it. Everything else above is my personal story from first hand experience.
Cannot say enough about Bryan and his team. If I could give them more stars I would. We are traveling from out of state and they got us in right away, ordered the part we needed, and completed the repair before they closed that night, and for a reasonable price! Very grateful and would recommend them to anyone. We even got free t shirts out of it. ππ€£
