Transformed a Challenging Space into a Dream Kitchen! We recently hired Ankuva Construction for a kitchen building project, and we are absolutely thrilled with the results! From start to finish, their professionalism, ingenuity, and dedication to quality exceeded our expectations. Our project presented unique challenges. We were converting an unfinished laundry room/utility space in our basement into a functional kitchen. This area was initially crowded with numerous obstructions: a Radon system pipe, two gas pipes, an A/C water disposal pipe, A/C unit compressor connection pipes, and various wires, all within a very limited footprint. We knew we needed a contractor who could think creatively to maximize every inch of space. Ankuva's Mike and the onsite crew proved to be exactly that. They meticulously handled all the necessary plumbing work, expertly rerouting water lines for the new sink and connecting the drainage to the existing system. The re-cemented floor after the plumbing was incredibly clean and seamless, showing their attention to detail even in unseen areas. Their innovative approach truly shone during the framing and drywall phases. To preserve precious space, they ingeniously turned wall studs on their narrower side and drywalled around all the existing pipes and wires, planning for them to be discreetly hidden behind or under the new kitchen cabinets. A particularly brilliant solution was modifying the Radon reduction system pipe to exit the house at a lower height (3 feet), which allowed us to fully conceal it within the lower cabinets and achieve a continuous countertop on both walls – a detail most contractors would shy away from due to the complexity. The final result is nothing short of amazing. The kitchen is not only beautiful but incredibly functional. They cleverly designed and installed sliding cabinet doors to hide the A/C unit and storage shelves, with one door being mirrored. This mirrored door is a stroke of genius, adding a fantastic sense of depth and making the small space feel much larger and more open. Another standout item is the double-hung window they integrated into the existing backyard door. This space previously had no windows, relying solely on the ceiling lights. The addition of this window has dramatically increased the natural light, making the kitchen exceptionally luminous and pleasant. The view outside is wonderful, and this smart, cost-effective solution has truly transformed the ambiance of the room. Beyond the exceptional craftsmanship, the project was completed with remarkable efficiency. The entire renovation took just 12 labor days, meaning their two workers, who clearly knew their job inside out, completed it in a mere 6 days! This speed, combined with the high quality of work, is truly impressive. We are incredibly happy with our new kitchen and cannot recommend Ankuva Construction highly enough. Mike is an amazing contractor—I would trust him to build a house for me from the ground up. He did a complete rehab of our newly purchased home, handling everything from the kitchen and bathrooms to doors, structural fixes, the front door, portico, electrical, plumbing, and windows. I took a huge risk hiring a contractor online without any referrals, but I believe divine intervention brought us to Mike. I truly don’t think any other contractor could have completed what he did—within budget, within the timeline, and with such excellent customer service. Beyond his professionalism, Mike is personable and takes the time to explain things so that you, as a homeowner, understand what’s being done. He helped us get great deals through his business partners on everything from cabinets and hardware to quartz countertops, luxury vinyl planks, carpet and padding, doors, painting, and a designer front door. Because he genuinely cares about the quality of his work, Mike fixed several items that weren’t even in our contract—and he did it at no extra cost. At a time when prices are sky-high, Mike has truly been a godsend. I deeply appreciate his time, care, and craftsmanship. His pricing was fair and fully transparent. I had been thinking about a major kitchen renovation for over a year and had a couple of other quotes before calling Mike. He came over the same day and soon after provided a fair quote. I finally decided to move forward and I'm so happy I went with Mike. The work included removing a load bearing wall, moving a window, adding recessed lighting, moving the sink, installing new cabinets, and switching from a gas to induction stove. They started work quickly and finished earlier than expected. Mike and the team were thoughtful and he provided suggestions based on his extensive experience and listened to what I wanted. I will definitely call him again for other projects.

My wife and I hired Mike and his team to build a three story addition to our family home in College Park while I was living overseas. He communicated consistently and made sure I was apprised of every decision he and my wife were making. I felt confident that Mike was effectively and honestly handling the project while I was away. Over the course of the project, Mike uncovered numerous structural problems created by a previous owner. He skillfully corrected them and did his best to mitigate excess costs associated with the changes.
