Affordable Asphalt

Stephen and his crew were very proficient as well as very personable. They were on time to give the estimate and, on time to start the driveway project. They removed about 150 linear feet of old asphalt driveway. They prepped for the new driveway on day 1 and poured the new asphalt on day 2. I have made arrangements with them to do another driveway on the opposite side of my house and also, to do new driveway for a house I own in Massachusetts.

I am a very meticulous person, especially when it comes to paying for work around my home. When it was time for a new driveway, a large investment as my driveway is very large, I made sure to do my due diligence. I have gotten in the habit of getting at least 3 quotes (this time I got 4). When I meet with a company I always force rank them based on my interaction and regardless of price. This way, if all things are equal, I know who I would go with.Then, after getting all the prices, I look at it again and work on making a decision. Very, very rarely is the top of the gut feeling list, on the lower side (they weren't the lowest) of the cost range. This is one of those cases. Feeling great about that, I did my due diligence with references (and as you can see here on google over 50 5 star reviews) and we were scheduled. No only did they show up promptly when they said they would, they communicated every step of the way. The owner is a wizard on the skid steer, removing the existing driveway, removing the failed gravel, bringing in a healthy 6 inches or more of new gravel, grading it, compacting it, paving it and compacting it again. I was truly at awe on their expertise. Additionally, as we neared the roadway, it was clear that there was no good way to tie it in to the road (I am the last house on a dead end street and the end of the road has been all crumbled). Knowing that without fixing the road, the end of our driveway would be compromised, he paid an additional 70-80 sq ft to ensure we wouldn't run into problems. Companies who stand behind their work, take the extra steps to ensure it is done to a high standard and are actually priced fairly are hard to come by. I strongly suggest using them in your next driveway project as you will not be disappointed.

Stephen Batchelder and his team were fantastic! They were not the cheapest nor were they the most expensive. In fact, they are very “Affordable” but that is not why I chose them. They were used by several of my neighbors who had nothing but great things to say, the quality was excellent, and the work ethic of the team was outstanding. But, the main reason I chose them was Stephen. During the quote process he was honest and forthright. He made great suggestions for and against aspects of my ask and, in the end, he was/is very trustworthy, responsive, and flexible. He treated our project as if he were about to pave his own driveway!
