If you have computer security issues then Sterling Rose is who you must contact for help. Here is what happened to us and how Norman at Sterling Rose resolved things:
We had a huge problem with our both our computers compromised and as it turned our cell phones as well, a serious and frightening experience.
A local computer store had told us that our old phones were OK and to just get new computers. We had already gotten new phones. There were about 3 to 4 thousand emails in my old phone alone, and I decided to turn it on, delete the emails, and I shut down the phone. The next morning I powered the phone on to see if there were more emails...If you have computer security issues then Sterling Rose is who you must contact for help. Here is what happened to us and how Norman at Sterling Rose resolved things:
We had a huge problem with our both our computers compromised and as it turned our cell phones as well, a serious and frightening experience.
A local computer store had told us that our old phones were OK and to just get new computers. We had already gotten new phones. There were about 3 to 4 thousand emails in my old phone alone, and I decided to turn it on, delete the emails, and I shut down the phone. The next morning I powered the phone on to see if there were more emails to delete. The instant the phone powered up it started to download a new operating system that I could not stop with the phone power buttons. I guess the hackers were thinking I might not notice if I was not looking at it, but I was. I took the phone down to my garage and beat it with a hand sledge mid download. That did stop it.
But obviously we had a huge problem, and where to turn? Most cyber security firms handle mid to large size businesses. But though googling " cyber security help for individuals" I found Sterling Rose, located about an hour away. I called, talked to Norman, the owner, about the issues and he said come right over. On a Sunday.
Here is what Norman was able to accomplish for us:
1. Take back control of both our old Gmail accounts from the hackers and lock them down with authenticator app logins and back up codes.
2. Had us contact our phone carrier's tech people. Over the next 1.5 hours, with Norman's help, they got back control over our old phone numbers and transferred both numbers into one new phone which now also has both of our old reclaimed Gmail accounts in it. We needed those numbers and emails back for 2 part logins to update accounts. At the end of the call the phone company's tech guys told us they had never spoken to anyone who was as knowledgeable as us. Well that was Norman, no "us" involved.
3. Helped us purchase new computers and then set them up and configured them with our new Gmail accounts, anti virus, and various settings, working on both simultaneously. Wow!!
4. Reconfigured and upgraded the security on our router so our system was truly secure.
Without Norman's help we would have been in real trouble. Now we are back online and HUGELY relieved, and highly appreciative of Norman's efforts and expertise. Thanks
