Many thanks to the friendly employees who helped me when I came in, feeling clueless ,and looking for a gift for the musician in my life. They made me feel right at home and comfortable. They have a lot of interesting new and antique instruments on display. It's a delightful place to explore and browse. They do indeed have adorable house doggos to add to your shopping pleasure. Located right next to the iconic Saxon Pub. I'm really glad I stopped by.

I took my 1976 Gibson 335 into Ben Nippes at South Austin Music to get it refretted and he is so thorough! He not only refretted the guitar, but also evened out the truss rod, level the fretboard, and set up the guitar perfectly. I'm so happy with all of this!

South Austin Music is a fantastic shop. Five stars all the way. The space is a little tight, but that actually adds to the charm. It feels packed with character and great gear.
They carry some really unique brands, and the Danelectro selection in particular stood out. A really nice range of models you do not see everywhere.
My son is 11 and has been learning guitar, and the staff could not have been better with him. They were patient, encouraging, and genuinely welcoming. They told him to play anything he wanted and made him feel completely comfortable.
Wonderful place and wonderful people. We will absolutely be back.
