CONSUMER BEWARE!
I was away at work, I sent my spouse a screenshot of the national average repair price for cutting and replacing a leaky pipe ($415-$500), while simple exposed repairs like ours in a crawlspace (ours is encapsulated and easily accessible) start around $150. We have used Pure Plumbing before and were pleased with their work and pricing, so I wasn’t too concerned.
Fast forward to later that morning when I see a charge for $925 go through. After a few days waiting and numerous phone calls, I finally got the itemized invoice I requested to help me understand and justify this blatant thievery. The bill was actually $1025, we had a “coupon” for $100 off.
In speaking with the owner, he informed me that they do “margin pricing” which in my opinion is a fancy term for maximize profits at the customers expense. Please take a look for yourself of the ridiculously high prices itemized on the invoice, circled in red in the attached pic.
Materials: $231.25
Labor $416.25
Admin $277.50
Totals $925, already high but they forgot the invoice was for $1025, unless there’s no true value to their “coupons”. Which would then make one of their fees:
Materials: $331.25 (for a $40 copper pipe)
Labor: $516.25 (for just over 1 hour of actual labor)
Admin: $377.50 (my share of admin fees for a simple service call is nearly $400?? INSANE!!!)
The invoice even states: THIS TASK IS FOR A SIMPLE WATER LEAK REPAIR”
I am angry and disappointed, we switched from our “big name” plumbing company to Pure Plumbing to prevent these types of practices, in reading other similar reviews about these con jobs, it would appear they have forgotten why their business is growing, and likely why it will decline going forward.
As a gesture of goodwill to resolve this, I requested at least a 30% refund which would drop the cost to $600, still on the high end for the work performed, I did not hear back.
I’ve read all the copy and paste replies to your negative reviews (“thank you for bringing this to our attention”, “we understand your frustration and disappointment”, “we have brought this to the attention of our management team”) …..please spare me the insincerity and don’t bother, they have lost their minds and my business, and hopefully yours.
