I had been calling and waiting for Carpenters that came recommended to come by and give me an estimate for weeks, 1 of them was Helping Hands, No one came or returned my call! I decided to try Google for Carpenters in the Columbus area, a few came up, I wrote down 3 and kinda glance over there reviews and pictures. Petty was my 1st choice because I liked what I saw. I called, he answered and I explained what I wanted done and asked if he was able and available, he said yes and yes. Yes yes and yes! Mr. Petty was wonderful! From call to completion, it was a wonderful experience. I needed one door replaced and another repaired, and he got it done quickly. He’s also reliable and honest (didn’t try to have me break the bank on buying things that could be repaired) which is so hard to find these days! Will be using him for a flooring project in the future as well!

I'm so glad we found Petty's Renovations to do my mom's bath remodel.
Our ultimate scope:
- Out with the old! Remove Acrylic bath + shower, vanity, mirror, toilet, wallpaper, linoleum, lighting
- In with the new! Install walk in shower and glass door, corner vanity and medicine cabinet, new toilet, new fan + light. Prep and paint walls, install towel racks.
The project started with a plumber recommending a toilet replacement. As she and I talked about it, things ballooned into a total renovation with a focus on accessibility. We then set out to find someone. We had two companies who did not provide estimates (skills gap or timing) an...I'm so glad we found Petty's Renovations to do my mom's bath remodel.

We then set out to find someone. We had two companies who did not provide estimates (skills gap or timing) and two others who did. Honestly it was an easy choice - my mom liked Tarus from the first time he came out to look at the bathroom. He was engaged, asked questions, had ideas and made her feel comfortable. His estimate was competitive, fair, and thorough.
We put the deposit down after selecting Petty's and then elected to wait a couple more weeks for everything to arrive before we started removal. Once we started the removal, we were finished within 2 weeks in time for holiday visitors. Wow! Extra special thank you to Tarus and his team for working weekend time to help us make that deadline.
Some highlights:
- I am not in MS and was helping coordinate from another state, this being a new process for my mom. Tarus was responsive and readily accessible over phone and text. While he was working in person with my mom, he kept me up to date with pictures and status.
- I goofed on a paint color name, and he called me from the store to pick a new one. I gave him 3 options and told him to use his judgment while in the store. He took the extra time to bring the chips to my mom's house to let her pick one before he actually bought the paint!
- We were trying to figure out the best approach to lights and he had an excellent idea to add a lighted medicine cabinet as well as to replace the exhaust fan with a lighted one. (We would not have known/thought to do either)
- The tile we ordered turned out to be super thick - like .6 inches - whoops. The team included a tile specialist who did outstanding work with this difficult tile. Also, we had very little extra; he laid it out two ways before starting to ensure we would have enough.
- The shower door we ordered was apparently a doozy on the install with lots of parts and terrible directions (said most of the reviews which I had failed to read when I ordered - also whoops on me). Tarus was diligent and skilled getting it installed though I know it was a longer process than expected or with most of those types of doors. (Again - extra thanks)
- Payment was super easy with Square and Tarus did a great job keeping all the receipts for the bits-and-bots needed to get everything installed.
I have not seen the result in person yet because I don't live in MS; however other family visiting for the holiday said it looks fantastic. And Tarus sent tons of pictures - here for reference. (Before and after are obvious I am sure)
I told him he can freely give my name out as a reference; I'd be happy to talk about the project and our experience! If he lived in TX where I live I would def hire him :) and I know my mom would use him again for any future projects.
