I took my minivan here on Sept 11, due to the ABS & brake warning lights coming on all of a sudden... no speedometer issues, no brake pedal issues or locking up. According to their diagnosis, I was told I needed an ABS module, which is a dealer part and takes "up to 7 days" for the dealer to get. I was also told I needed rear brakes, front & rear struts/shocks, serpentine belt, valve cover gaskets and a new battery... est $3319.86. They had my car 11 days waiting for the 'ABS module'. On Sept 21 I demanded a loaner, ha ha. They got my car ready for me on Sept 22 so I could pick it up and drive it until the ABS module came from the dealer, wh... I was also told I needed rear brakes, front & rear struts/shocks, serpentine belt, valve cover gaskets and a new battery... est $3319.86. They had my car 11 days waiting for the 'ABS module'. On Sept 21 I demanded a loaner, ha ha. They got my car ready for me on Sept 22 so I could pick it up and drive it until the ABS module came from the dealer, which I was assured I would get a call when it arrived. Surprise! Oct 6, STILL no word from McInerneys 'and' no ABS module has come in. An auto mechanic friend took my car to where he works, he scanned my ABS module and came up with a wheel sensor code, also checked fuses... good. During his visual inspection he found broken wires to my wheel sensors, which McInerneys' so- called mechanic missed. My friend fixed those wires, no more problem now. I NEVER needed the ABS module McInerneys was going to charge me $950 (part & labor) for!! They also said my gas cap needed to be replaced as well, which they did. Now, 2 weeks later, my gascap light came on (never before) and I have cranked that cap tightly. Also, I was never informed by McInerneys that I needed a front wheel alignment due to new shocks, obviously I had that done elsewhere. They did all this other work on my car ($2364.87) I won't say they are rip offs here because I have no way of proving all this 'other' work they did was unnecessary. But they DID NOT take care of the original issue I took my car in for, all the while blaming the dealer for not being able to find the part. Their mechanic (?) left a funnel and syringe under my hood by the fuse box. I texted the guy who took care of me at the desk everything I've posted here including the photos and I have not received ANY REPLY at all!! They don't want to address the incompetent people they have working on cars there. Be very careful dealing with this place. In my opinion, they don't know what they're doing!! Plus, parts and labor are 'highly overpriced'. It will be a cold day in hell before I go back to McInerneys - Oakland!!!
This was my first visit to McInerney Auto and I was not disappointed. They were very friendly and helpful. Their pricing for a new battery for my Jeep Compass was hundreds of dollars less than the dealership. I will certainly be returning to have them help me with any other issues I might have. I highly recommend!!
After having regular maintenance done on my vehicle at a cost of $789 in labor, and needing additional work done to flush the brake line and another flush, I did some research and found Mclnerney. The cost to have the flush done was less than $100 and the fluid flush I was told I needed, by the dealership, I didn’t need yet. Service was excellent, clean environment and the conversation with Michael, the owners son was courteous. My only draw back is the drive from my home to this shop was almost an hour due to road closures. I definitely would recommend this auto center to anyone looking to have work done on their vehicle.
