Although the news about my truck was not good, Jeff and his team stayed in communication with me during the process. My engine was toast and they only charged me for the time it took them to diagnose it. I appreciate them working with me, especially afterwards when they let my truck sit in their lot until I was able to get it towed away.
After taking my 2002 Chevrolet Duramax to three other businesses and waiting over two years, I finally took my truck to Jeff Durbin Automotive and they got my truck in and out within 2 months!! It is running very well!! They kept me updated on estimated prices and progress to the truck!! They were very professional and tried to work with me the best they could on price!! I even pulled another truck with my 2002 duramax already and it did very well!! I would highly recommend them for any automotive mechanic work that needs done!!
Imagine a mechanic that not only fails to fix what is wrong, but takes two months just to make it worse. You've just imagined Jeff Durbin Automotive, possibly the worst mechanic in Amarillo. I left them my F150 (the most common and easily serviced vehicle in America) to fix the check engine light, fix rodent damage, put new tires on the truck, and fix a leak in the gas tank. When I got the truck back over two months later, they had only fixed the leak in the gas tank. When I popped the hood, I found rodent droppings and a very large piece of wood sitting on top of engine components. Did they not notice that? Did they put that there? I'll nev... When I got the truck back over two months later, they had only fixed the leak in the gas tank. When I popped the hood, I found rodent droppings and a very large piece of wood sitting on top of engine components. Did they not notice that? Did they put that there? I'll never know because they never responded to the feedback I gave them in their email survey after the work was *ahem* "completed." Rodent damage: Instead of cleaning up the cab and fixing the broken wires (which they would have been aware of because of a cylinder head temperature code), they did neither. Instead, they sold me on an aftermarket cold air intake which did not fix the check engine light. It actually caused NEW check engine lights, which they improperly diagnosed, selling me on more parts and labor. After I got the truck back, I picked up a junkyard intake for $42 and installed it myself. My gas mileage has improved by 30% and the engine runs smoother. I also had another mechanic fix the wiring to the cylinder head temperature sensor, and after both of these fixes, the check engine light is gone. New tires: They told me they would put new tires on the truck. Despite having the truck for two months, they did not. Bruh. Leak in the gas tank: Okay, the one thing they did right. On top of all that, I asked them to poke holes in the headlights to drain the water. They ended up replacing a light or two, which they tried charging me two hours of labor for. Because not even the most avaricious, miserly mechanic can stand up against logic and reason, he was willing to back the price down to a reasonable amount. But that doesn't change the fact that he TRIED to rip me off. In conclusion, avoid this mechanic like the plague if you value your time and money, not to mention your car.
Took my car in on Thursday, at 4:55 pm and they tried to fix it. My wife and iwere leaving on a trip to Albuquerque on Friday after work. They fixed it and got the car back to us by 3PM. Great folks!
