Jacob was beyond the level of 99% of contractors I’ve worked with. Honest, professional and has amazing communication. Not to mention his end product is top quality. Would recommend to any friends or family.

We never used our old deck, so when it came time (the deck was falling apart) to do something about it, we had Grit City Remodel give us a bid. We had no idea that once our new deck was complete our quality of life would improve so much! The deck has added a whole new outdoor room-- we use it all the time and it's the BEST to just relax and get some sunshi... TLDR: This is the builder you are looking for. The deck has added a whole new outdoor room-- we use it all the time and it's the BEST to just relax and get some sunshine/ fresh air. We enjoyed the space so much over the summer that we decided to have GCR construct a cover for our pergola so it stays dry and with a little supplemental heat we can now enjoy it through the fall and winter too! We have had many contractors over the years work on our 130yr old house, and it is a challenge to find a builder/ contractor like Grit City Remodel that will see a project through from start to finish-- no surprise subs, no partners. Communication: A+-- Jacob is very responsive and was proactive during the whole process of our project, from estimate, design, ordering materials, construction process and timeline and follow-up. I am very type-A and tend to ask a lot of questions/ want to know details and Jacob was attentive and happy to explain or consider any points I brought up. After the project was completed, there were a couple of minor issues (caulk shrinking as it cures), and what makes GCR stand apart is they followed up in short-order and repaired these areas no problem. We have had contractors in the past that were impossible to get a hold of/ respond to any issue after a project was complete, so this is absolutely a quality that makes GCR shine. Craftsmanship: A+ -- Grit City Remodel gave us many design and material options for replacing our rotting/ falling apart/ not remotely up to safety code deck. We wanted a gate for the stairs, so our pets could be restricted on one side or the other-- and he designed a bespoke gate that is beautiful. Another custom feature is our railing-- Jacob came up with an idea that we had not considered -- a beverage rail, which has been a really useful and practical feature! (The Dude would say "it really ties the room together".) GCR crafted a custom inlay design in our decking which is an extra-special touch. We also had them design and construct a pergola, which to stay in-budget we could not have a cover installed at that time. With that in mind, GCR made sure the structure was solid enough that it could have a cover added in the future if we chose to do so. (Spoiler-- after a year we chose to add a cover and it's amazing!!!) Cost: A+ Grit City Remodel gave us options/ designs with a variety of materials/ price points and once my husband and I had narrowed down our priorities, we were able to stay within our budget for the project. GCR is very transparent about cost/ payments. The value is in the quality of craftsmanship/ construction.

I spoke with several contractors about upgrading my deck – and had a couple say they could put down new deck boards, no problem. Only Grit City Remodel had a VISION for a completely new deck upgrade that would mean minimal upkeep for me and a long warranty for the Trex products. Jake suggested a new deck design that eliminated “code” issues with the old deck – and by adding Trex RainEscape product and closing in the deck underside – I now have over 700 square feet of dry covered lighted space, too. While waiting for permits, Grit City Remodel also removed my old fencing and added Trex fencing, too. I am so pleased with the job that the Gr...
