I recently took the 3-day Onsite Power Generation Training course from Gen-Tech. It was far and away one of the best training experiences I've ever had. The enthusiasm, knowledge, and experience from their instructors is going to be tough to find elsewhere. You're learning from people that don't just know what they're talking about, they also love what they're doing. And it shows! I could probably take this course every year and still walk away with something new each time.
It was a perfect course for me because I'm not a mechanic or technician of any kind. This class started with the fundamentals of power, breaking it all the way down to the basics, and then building up from there. But it's not all entry-level, either. They were helpful when renting a generator. However had asked repeatedly for a quote on a good used gen set, Its been well over a month and they never answered me. I have a mining operation in need of a solid generator and I had to go elsewhere to get any sort of service. Their tech guy is fairly helpful but seems the sales end of this business is nonexistent. Pretty frustrating when a guy has cash in hand and a deadline.
