Our roof sprung a leak the weekend before Christmas with water coming thru a ceiling light fixture. After reviewing roofing options online, Geek Roofing and their five-star rating seemed an obvious choice. Thankfully, Alex was able to get out to see us immediately. He & Cesar not only determined the source of the leak but examined the entire roof (inside & out) to make a full evaluation of the roof’s state. Our roof was at the 20-year mark & we already knew it was due for replacement soon and it was now evident that we couldn’t wait any longer. Alex quoted us a reasonable price that included a veteran’s discount. We set a prospective date in February for the roof replacement that allowed time for us to have our solar panels removed, file the necessary paperwork with our HOA, & allow for amenable weather. In the meantime, the existing leaks were covered with tarps to prevent any further damage & Alex gave us his phone number with instructions to call at any time, day or night, if any issues arose, so that someone could come out & see to it.
Shortly afterward, Geek Roofing set up a group text chat for all issues relating to the roof & we exchanged emails as well. I was impressed that they followed thru on Alex’s promises, coming out on two separate occasions when issues developed with the roof such as the tarps coming loose in the wind & needing to be resecured. Ty was the Project Manager for our roof replacement & he was terrific. Both he & Alex were available by phone, text, & email for questions or concerns, even in the evenings & on weekends. They also came by the house for several in-person meetings to go over items such as the plan for dealing with our dog & his needs while the workers were onsite. The entire crew was very respectful of our personal needs & preferences, something we greatly valued. Most of all, however, I appreciated the respect that they showed me. As a woman, I appreciated never feeling talked down to nor being looked down upon when I didn’t know or understand a concept or a term. Alex, especially, was always happy to expand my knowledge & further educate me about roofing – both the materials & the process itself. Further, as I am a detail-oriented person & some can find it irksome, I appreciated that the crew was never bothered nor offended by my (many) questions, nor my requests for specifications, visual inspections, minute corrections, nor my preference that my spouse or I must be present for all work.

If I could give them 10 stars I would! Unfortunately I've tried over and over to add the before photos but for some reason Google will not allow me to share them. Take my word for it, this new look is 100x better than the old concrete tiles that were an eyesore. Thank you everyone at Geek Roofing for the great job!

The roof replacement itself was amazingly quick & easy! The work began & was completed within one week of the originally projected start date. We had an excellent crew of five workers, plus Ty and occasionally Alex. They were prompt, courteous, efficient, & they cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day with a strong magnet to catch any little nails, etc. that may have fallen. Although I missed meeting him myself, Geek Roofing’s owner even stopped by once to check on our progress. The whole roof, over 3500 sq ft, was replaced in just two days. It was quite impressive! A few details arose during the work itself, such as finding unexpected damage caused by the lack of downspout extensions between roof levels. However, Ty was able to connect us with someone to come add downspout extensions quickly for a small additional fee to prevent a recurrence. I was also extremely impressed with how Ty handled a minor miscommunication. During one of our meetings, Alex had verbally told me that the existing but faded flashing would be “blackened” to match new shingles. Unfortunately, he forgot to mention it to Ty. When I brought it up during the final inspection, Ty immediately agreed to honor Alex’s commitment without question or hesitation. That, to me, is a sign of a good & reputable business.
A few other minor final tasks were handled by the wonderful Jose in the days after the main job & Alondra, at the office, handled the final invoices & warranty paperwork. The roof looks great & we’ve received several compliments on it. Above all else, the members of Geek Roofing were genuinely nice people! They were kind, affable, gracious, & good at their jobs. This is a small, family-run, local business & we were glad to support it. My one & only complaint is that they did require occasional reminders about following thru on some requests. If I could give a half-star rating, Geek Roofing would receive 4.5 stars from me. However, when choosing between 4 or 5 stars, their many strengths outweigh their few weaknesses, so I’ve opted for 5 stars. Thank you, Geek Roofing, for a job well done!
