My friend had good results from Fortner, but my results were so horrible it was hard to believe. I spent THOUSANDS on upholstery for four pieces: sleek mid-century sofa, two club chairs, and one antique side chair. And the results were ridiculously shoddy: puckered seams, wiggly piping, uneven stretching of fabric on the frame, cushions that didn’t REMOTELY fit, nails sticking out — and, worst of all, they overstuffed the sleek sofa until it was an ugly bloated thing that looked like a cheap purchase from a low-quality discount store.

Fortner agreed to fix three of the pieces, but we had to get more fabric due to poor cutting initially. Delay of several weeks. And Fortner’s was not friendly about it but grudging — failed to return phone calls, etc! Incredible hassle. I made call after call for a year, trying to get the job finished. When I talked to a manager, he professed to have no knowledge of the many calls I had made.
The final result was okay but not great. NOT worth the top-of-the-line prices I paid. Apparently they were expanding their business and hired a lot of new staff.
My decorator was appalled and apologized profusely for recommending them, but it wasn’t her fault that a previously excellent business had new management and was going downhill. It seems some of the workers are good, and some are lousy — and quality control by management was non-existent.

I chose Fortner Upholstering to cover two high back barrel chairs from my father's estate. Since he was a superb upholsterer himself, I wanted to be sure the work was done expertly and professionally. I supplied photos of the chairs before I stripped the fabric and refinished the woodwork. So basically, Fortner was receiving "wooden frames". I was literally shocked when they delivered them just 2 short weeks after picking up. They are stunning!! And absolutely perfect in every way. the seams and double welting were crisp and straight. They look very high end and that's because of their craftsmanship. I highly recommend Fortner if you wan...I chose Fortner Upholstering to cover two high back barrel chairs from my father's estate. Came in for estimate. Appointment only, understand. Send picture of project per instructions. No response. Called and person said would leave note. To date no response. Poor customer service. Someone should have responded with led times. I was told to send picture of item and they could send a quote. Very disappointed.
