I don’t usually leave reviews online, but for this place one is definitely needed! My transmission went out on 2/27/24, I called Coastal about doing their “free” tow service. From the start the phone calls were very rude, but I decided to brush it off and just assume the best that they knew what they were doing with transmission work. Fast forward to 3/4/24, they called me to inform me that my truck wouldn’t start and that they had run a diagnostic(without my permission) and it was coming back as the security system. So, I let them know that when it happens(hasn’t happened in over 2 years…keep reading to find out it WAS NOT the security syste...I don’t usually leave reviews online, but for this place one is definitely needed! This was close to closing time so I figured I’d call back in a few days and see the progress they made since I hadn’t heard a word from them. I called on 3/15/24 and he(the owner) still tells me the same thing about how it’s the security system. At this point I decided to consult another mechanic about just getting my truck out of their lot because every interaction since day one had been rude. The mechanic I consulted told me to get my truck back so he could fix it. Today(3/18/24) is when all hell broke loose. I called to see what was going on, because once again I hadn’t heard a thing from them. I got on the phone with the owner and as soon as he heard what vehicle I was calling about he immediately catches a rude attitude. I told him I just wanted my truck back and to please just bring it back to me. He tried to tell me it would be almost $400 before he would let me take it off the lot. Luckily I only live about 45 minutes away so I drove down for an in person conversation. When I walked in, he(owner) informed his receptionist to call the police if I get belligerent(I have had no attitude with him this whole time as he talked down on me and to me over every little thing). I still chose to not engage him and asked the lady what my bill would be to get it off the lot. She tells me $80 for the diagnostic, as she does he cuts her off and says I owe him for that “free” tow down to Beaufort. Should I also mention in all this time they never fixed my transmission?! I informed him I hadn’t given permission to do anything on my truck except to tow it and fix my transmission. During all of this he’s throwing around cuss words and constantly threatening to call the cops on me while I maintained a calm composure. By the end of it, he “agreed” to only “allow” me to pay the $150 for a tow(a tow where they pretty much wasted my time and money because I had to pay someone else to drive down to Beaufort and get it back for me) under the condition and I quote “I never have to see your face again”, so I agreed and let him know I’d be doing everything I can to detour people from the horrible experience I had, and also if I find out they had torn my truck up they’d be footing that bill too. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THESE PEOPLE!

Stopped through town to lend a helping hand in the shop. Had some troubles on my own unit. The shop was happy to help. Being an expierenced transmission technician, I was astounded by the bubble of knowlage and professionalism they possessed.
Fair, honet, taletned, expierenced techs and support staff front door to back.
Needless to say they didn't need my help. This should be your go to whenever in need. They will get you going ASAP.

My transmission was slipping between several gears. They checked it and of course it needed to be rebuilt. I was quoted 4500 to 4700 to rebuild and a week and a half to complete.
The work was done on time and within the quoted estimate.
I have put several hundred miles on the car and so far it's been buttery smooth.
However, I left the shop with 2 additional issues that I didn't have before going there.
1. I received an adaptive drive warning on the dash.
2. The wheel alignment was off
I called them about the error message and they told me to come back and they would scan the computer for errors. So bottom line is, it seems they did a good job rebuilding the transmission however, it cost me another $100 to get the alignment done but God only knows what it will take to get the adaptive suspension back working.

Had my truck towed to the location after speaking with the owner and confirming he would work on the year/make/model of the vehicle. The vehicle was left on a Monday and the Mr on the phone said I would have an update by Friday. Friday comes along and I call around 4pm because I never recieved an update. A lady answers the phone this time and informs me my truck wouldn’t make it onto the lift till next Friday. I said okay no problem and hung up the phone. It’s not my only vehicle so no worries. I get a phone call on Monday at 8:30am telling me to come get my truck off their property and that they weren’t going to look at it. I’m guessing the phone girl made it seem like a big deal that I called on Friday. But I never found out because of the abrupt and disgusting attitude and demands to come get my vehicle over the phone. So I had to spend another 100$ to get my truck towed down the road to a much friendlier mechanic who was able to get my torque converter replaced.

A friend of mine had her car break down right before leaving town for the holidays. There was a puddle of transmission oil below the car and it wouldn't move. She had it towed to Coastal Transmission and called me the next day asking if I could oversee what was done on her car.
I went to the shop Monday morning of Thanksgiving week and spoke with Nicole at the front desk. She was honest, they were packed and it was a 3-day work week, but they would try to give me a call on Tuesday (the next day).
As promised, Nicole called late Tuesday afternoon to say they had finally got to my friend's car and she would call again the next day after they lo...A friend of mine had her car break down right before leaving town for the holidays. Shortly after lunch on Wednesday Nicole called to let me know the car was fixed and the total cost was about $260. When I went to pick up the car the mechanic showed me photos of the broken fluid line to the cooler and the fix. No damage was done to the transmission and it was fine. I drove it and it's as good as before.
I read some of the other posts and was concerned how I would be treated, but my experience with them is 5-star. I know a transmission going out can put most people in a bind, especially if you're on a trip, but that's not the repair shop's issue. Getting mad at them because you don't get same day service, or because the cost to repair or replace your transmission is high isn't being realistic. They had my friend's car fixed and ready for her in great time, but we made contingency plans just in case.
I'm very pleased with them!
