Called them in late October. It’s now the end of January and nothing has been fixed despite six visits. The employees and management are incompetent. They repeatedly showed up with the wrong parts ordered and would come on different days/times than they said. I was invoiced $40 for a part and then later $170 for the exact same part. I called them out on it exposing their unethical behavior.
The technician, who is a nice guy, admitted himself he was not familiar with my equipment and spent most of the visit (about 80% of the time) on the phone with the manufacturer, yet the company still attempted to bill me for that time.

On one visit, they filled my house with a strong gas/burning chemical smell, said there was no concern, and left. I had to call someone in the fire department and remove my family from the house overnight. Days later, instead of checking on safety, they sent another invoice—even though NOTHING has been repaired and we are still in the same position as we were when we first called in October.
I have never written a review before, but people should be warned. We unfortunately paid the first visit and won't see that money back. It has been 2 weeks since I have heard from them and their last visit (nothing was fixed again) If you do hire them, do NOT pay them anything until the job is fully completed.

October 28, 2025. Mike from Sales and Service, out of Auburn, NY came out to inspect and clean our woodstove and inspect the chimney. He was excellent. He did a very thorough job and took time to explain what he was doing. Almost 2 hours on the job… excellent.
They will be called on again for service. If you need service for your fireplace and chimney, definitely give them a call. Ask for Mike, too

After repairs, we scheduled a cleaning/inspection. The technician thoroughly cleaned/inspected both our fireplaces & flues. His work was clean and he was careful inside our home. We noticed later that evening that the chimney caps were tilted sideways (must have been accidentally bumped with the power brush)...We bought a home with a deteriorating chimney crown & called Butler for help. The entire experience was great!

They sold me the wrong parts and the charged me a 35% restocking fee to return them. I paid them $172.60 for their mistake. Incompetent employee representing a ripoff company. I would give them less that one star if I could.
