Good to purchase through, but buyer beware should you need customization or soldering on a custom piece, maybe consider going elsewhere. My husband and I went through Brockhaus to purchase a custom wedding band to nest precisely with the curve of my engagement ring’s setting; when we received the rings back, my engagement ring had to be sent back twice because two of the three stones were loose in their settings. I would expect this is a final check the smith would have completed before sending the piece back to Brockhaus. Several months later, we returned to Brockhaus to have my engagement ring and wedding band soldered together; the wait time was about two weeks, which is no issue given we dropped them off around the holidays and (as we were told by store personnel) Brockhaus does not have a goldsmith/jewler that works onsite. When we went to pick them up early January, the rings had to be sent back because although the goldsmith had soldered the rings together, but they were not centered or nesting as they were designed. Given that these pieces are designed to sit comfortably together, and had done so with no issues prior to soldering, I can only assume something was warped after we dropped off the rings. The wait time on the re-solder was about two weeks, which you might not experience if you can find a store that has a goldsmith onsite. When we went this time to pick up the rings, they were still not centered. Fortunately, Mr. Brockhaus was present in-store that day so we could address our problem, and the smith was also working in-store, so they could finally mark the center on the wedding band and re-solder (this is the third attempt) so everything was centered. We enjoyed working with Mr. Brockhaus; it’s clear that he cares a lot about his customers’ overall satisfaction. After this third attempt, everything was centered, but when I shook the ring near my ear, I could hear the stones on the engagement ring rattling in the setting. We had them verify the settings were holding appropriately prior to leaving the store, which added more time to an errand that should have not taken multiple attempts in the first place. Overall, a poor experience for a locally owned and operated business; I would hope in future they can get a goldsmith that works onsite consistently, and is more precise with their attention to detail and final review prior to notifying a customer their piece is ready. Perhaps Brockhaus could explore options of sending customers a photo of their piece along with the text notification, to save customers time on commuting to pick up a piece that isn’t truly ready for wearing and needs further attention.
