I just want to say how happy we are with our new home !! Avalon gave us a superior home which exceeded our expectations. Hilary, who designed our home after listening to what we wanted and needed, was exceptional. She stayed within our financial framework and designed a home made just for us. Chris, our supervisor, answered every question and was there for us every step of the way. He included us on every detail. No phone call went unanswered. We have professional contractors in the family and they are amazed at the quality of the materials used. Highly recommend Avalon and just want to say thank you again for our new home.

Do NOT do business with this company. They ask you to pay a $3,000 fee to basically get a quote, then they do a horrible job and never respond. I wasted so much time and was so disappointed. Do yourself a favor and call a different modular home builder. Lesson learned, but don't make the same mistake!

His lead carpenter, Danny, is also fantastic. He’s focused and he’s very, very good at this job. I was really happy working with the two of them.
Avalon did not lay out the process in laymen’s terms and give timelines. When I started working with Avalon I was confused about the process. I asked for a timeline in an email or a document but never received anything. Unclear timelines persisted throughout the project. I was originally told would be 8-10 weeks to complete the house once it delivered was more like 27-30 weeks. I think this is normal but not what was communicated to me – which led to a lot of anxiety.
Some tips:
Try to be patient, it will get done and it will be done well if Joe is on the job.
Check everything when the house delivers to make sure it meets your expectations. If it does not, be very vocal from the outset so they can get it fixed and it doesn’t cost you and/or Avalon money later.
Hire your own tile company or do research on the one Avalon hires. My tile work is not as beautiful as I hoped it would be despite the tile company coming back to make fixes.
I didn’t have timelines in my contract. You may want to try to get those put in with the understanding that the timelines may change.
Make sure you check the plans (or have someone knowledgeable check) for additions that you add. I asked to have the HVAC run into the room over the garage even though it wasn’t being finished right away and Avalon’s designer left it out of the plans. This will cost me quite a bit of money to remedy.
Countertops - the allowance they had put in did not cover the cost even though I purchased the counter tops through their recommended vendor and was clear I didn’t have additional money. Do you research early on counters or end up paying extra as I did.
Additional thoughts:
Avalon and Joe did remedy almost every issue that I had and threw in some sweet extras that balanced out the issues that weren’t resolved.
Joe’s lead carpenter, Danny, is THE BEST. He’s very professional, he clearly takes pride in his work and he’s very good at what he does. Danny and Joe will be missed.
Joe recommended an awesome house painter and cleaner, Vera. I will definitely be hiring her and her team again.
The house is truly beautiful. The wood floors are gorgeous. I have a fantastic portal (round) window. The outside decks are well done – I can’t wait for summer!
There’s still quite a bit of work to do but it will be done with confidence in knowing I bought a quality house!
I will update this review in a year or so.
