I had brought my MacBook Air to Alaska Mac store about a month ago, and paid standard 100$ for the diagnostics and cleaning. Main purpose was to look into “no WiFi hardware installed” they emailed me back a week later saying some parts need to be replaced and quoted me 120$. Which is steep compared to other competitors. I gave them the right away anyways. Today (4/24) I picked it up, paid cash, and went home. It’s nicely cleaned but the main reason why I went to them isn’t resolved. It’s still listed “no WiFi hardware installed” so I will be stopping there tomorrow to see what will they say and what will they do since it’s a 30 day warranty on those parts. I’ll return with the final results

I had my computer destroyed a week before my finals. I asked them to recover my data and they told me the service would be $100, which I was okay with. They did recover the data and put it on a drive, that costed me additional $75. The lady at the front told me it would take couple hours if I would want it transferred to my own drive, and they were about to close so I had to pay for it. She told me that if I purchase a new computer, put the new drive in and set it up with the new data it will be exactly the same as the old one. WRONG. When I asked her to show it to me on her computer she had some issues and I had to wait additional 40 minutes for them to unlock the access to the data. After that wait she simply handed me the drive and told me everything should be good now. What a waste of time and money.

I’m bummed I had to give one star to leave a review. These people are swindlers. Paid $600 to repair keyboard and clearly said if it’s anything else do nothing and put it back together and I can use an external keyboard. They destroyed the charging ports that functioned perfectly and now the computer is trash. They ignored my constant emails to pick up. Now they say I have to wait another two weeks for a refund minus parts restocking fee and they are still charging me labor for destroying my computer. Reporting them to Apple, the Ombudsman and any site I can leave a review with this so they stop ripping people off. If they had any integrity at all they would not charge labor, give me a full refund and admit their mistake. It’s heartbreaking reading the bad reviews after the fact. 😢

Waste of time and money. Also, they don’t answer the phone.

I find it interesting that my completely honest and accurate negative review of the Alaska MacStore seems to have been removed. This small business ripped me off for $200.00 because they declined to download all the information on iCloud to my new computer (when I did not know how to do this) and charged me instead to evaluate the hard drive on my old computer twice. When I went to the Apple Store after paying the Alaska MacStore $200.00 for nothing and discussed this with an Apple employee there, he performed this action in less than five minutes and at no charge. I should be entitled to a full refund of the money I wasted. Apple customer service made note of my complaint, but said it is up to this company to refund what I paid. This company is disreputable. I advise you to steer clear.

Called apple for an assist as I just got the new iPhone pro max 15 and was given a number of anchorage options. Chose the Mac store to get some hands on assistance transferring from my pro max 11. Drove across town for appointment. Stated what I felt I needed help with and was told by the woman at the counter ‘you can do that by just putting your phones next to ea other’. Well what about the new features? ‘There are videos.’ So I go home feeling like I was somewhat of a dummy and wasting her time. Well guess what? iPhone 15 ships with iOS 17.1.1. If you have updated to 17.1.2 - there is no transfer (from iPhone or iCloud backup if you’ve updated phone and backup to 17.1.2). So how do you get into settings to update a new iphone to 17.1.2 when that phone has not been set up and you can’t get to settings to download and install the update that will allow you to use phone or back up??? NOT AN INTUITIVE PROCESS. Took me almost an hour on the phone with an apple tech. And she definitely worked for her money. Would not give this store any business. Per your response that I didn’t want to pay??? No one asked if I wanted to pay or not. I assumed I would probably have to pay and was willing to do so. Payment was not discussed.

I'm genuinely disappointed by the service and doubt I'll return. Here's the deal: After installing four new memory modules in my iMac, I experienced stability issues and crashes. With zero time for my personal tech detective work, I carted my computer over to the MacStore, telling them I suspected a rogue module. They said, "No worries, but it'll cost you a Benjamin for the diagnosis!" A few days later, I called for the verdict, and no surprise here, "Diagnostics report memory errors" (duh). Their grand solution? "You could swap out the logic board, all the memory modules, or get into the thrilling business of testing them one by one." But, they hadn't done that last part, citing the time it takes. So, there I was, back at square one, but $100 lighter. I brought my computer back home and, with some spare time on my hands, took it upon myself to identify the culprit modules, which I sent back to Amazon for a refund. Bottom line? This whole ordeal was a waste of time and money, with a dash of frustration.

Would not recommend for any Apple or Mac repairs or data transfers. They charge for everything that is typically covered free of charge at an actual Apple Store.
