I brought my vintage turntables (technique 1200’s)to Ace to get them fully refurbished and in proper working order, and after 2 months of “work” and 900 dollars later, I finally get them back. After I finally set them up in my house, I try to play a record on one of them and the tonearm moved uncontrollably across the record until it completely fell off and was unable to play any music. Upon closer examination, I also notice that the RCA cables, power cord, and cartridge were only replaced on one unit as well, leaving the other turntable untouched. I was under the impression that a lot more work would have been done for the 900 dollar bill I... I was under the impression that a lot more work would have been done for the 900 dollar bill I received and not only that, when I called to speak about this issue, I was greeted with an unprofessional tone over the phone and the shop owner accused me of damaging the turntables myself after picking them up from the shop which left me flabbergasted. After reading some of the reviews of his business, I can see I am not the only person he has done this to and I also see he argues back with people in the reviews so I expect to see that soon as well. I do not plan on returning to this shop and will seek business elsewhere to get a proper diagnosis of what work was actually done to my turntables and depending on the findings, I may file a complaint with the BBB. I am extremely disappointed and expected much better service for the price tag and it feels like all I received was a 900 dollar dusting.
